Not unusual in building contracts for changes to sub-contractors to happen and not unusual for clients to change their minds. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11275148.East_Stand_progress/
Can anyone with any civil engineering knowledge please tell me what they are doing in the NE corner? They built the retaining walls, chucked what looked like loads of hard core then loads of soil behind it, and now this morning two big orange thingies have appeared. Will it become a flight of steps?
I have no idea what they are doing up in that corner. Lorry loads of stuff have been taken away but the pile doesn't seem to get smaller for long. I can only assume that spoil is coming out along the back of the stand and dumped there until removed. A container arrived yesterday on the demolition company lorry and now sits in front of the bit still to come down. There has been a rumour that asbestos has been found on the site and needs to be safely removed and this is holding things up.
Good thinking about the spoil, OFH. There wouldn't be room in Occupation Road to pile it up. But they do seem to keep ramming it down, and now it has top soil on it. Vegetable patch? I've been so focussed on that corner I missed the container. Funny story: day before yeseterday I looked in and thought they'd started nibbling away at end of the old stand nearest the Rookery. At last, thinks I. Looked again and realised it was the shadow of the corner of the Rookery roof. Glad I had that second look, it saved me a very excited but embarrassing post to this thread!
Two big orange thingies? Hard core probably crushed lean mix for formation level which will need to be compacted, then form foundation on top. Only guessing, not seen any photos so my 12 years at a civil/structural engineering consultants can't help much more....
My suggestion about asbestos seems to have been correct. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._will_almost_certainly_be_opened_in_sections/ The sealed container has been removed this morning, so unless another one is required we might see things happening shortly. The SW corner sounds as if it is still up in the air. Glad that the club have a clause in the catering contract that makes progress on the building works a condition before the pie deal is renewed. I notice that the new grass is having it's first cut this morning. When I go out to cut mine and the civic areas as well I walk about three miles. The groundsman here must go in for long distance walking as he seems to cut the whole pitch twice a week.
Just thought- after all this work is done they'll surely have to resurface or pave Occupation Road. That'll be the last vestige of the ground that some of us old gits knew back in the day.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._will_almost_certainly_be_opened_in_sections/ Well better late than never, I guess...
we have been told the Pozzo family were happy to pay the extra money to ensure an impressive stand was built. We have also been told the Pozzos are paying for the development in its entirety.
You can actually see people in the image. I don't know if they are there to watch the thingy or possibly even... working???/
You know what? I would like to see a second camera giving a view down or up Occupation Road. There's clearly a lot going on that we can't see. I know it's sad, but I spend so much time just sitting these days, dipping into the Vic Cam pictures every few hours is like a fast moving action movie to me!
