Another beautiful day in my little bit of the country, but it is getting to the point when we could do with a day or two of rain. The grass is beginning to look brown and straw like with the sun blazing down each day. So far I have used up about 900 litres of my collected rainwater, about half of it. Although I love living here the thought of more temperate weather does have attraction when you enjoy producing your own vegetables.
Good morning all. Glad I wasn't doing the round the island walk yesterday as it was very hot. Forecast was for 23, but I'm sure it was hotter than that. When I went to the shop yesterday morning, I caught some of the programme from the local radio station. The item was the presenter talking to one of their reporters who was taking part. I felt sorry for her. That walk is challenging enough, without having to be a professional at each checkpoint and broadcasting to the island. I hope that she managed to complete the whole walk.
This weather is great for my strawberries, picked 3 big helpings this week. Gooseberries, blackcurrents and rasps will soon follow. Might get some new spuds next week to save spending on Jersey Royals!
Hope the vineyard is in good shape Yorkie. With all the rain earlier in the year there is plenty of fruit, but we could do with some rain to swell the fruit.
Had more than 500 gooseberries off one bush this year! Must have got the pruning right! The blackcurrants are just beginning to ripen.
Vineyard fine..... I have lost a lot of annual flowers in the trough as my neighbour 83 forgot to water them ! (Red wine testing went well too.... ooops there is a thread for that )
Morning all, woke up this morning to the sound of rain on the roof lights, what the Metéo describes as strong rain. Just so happens that I had promised some help to my daughter to do some inside jobs on their new house, so will leave my veggies to soak up plenty of the wet stuff.
Help..... I clicked something in error and now the page view on this board is smaller..... too small for my eyes! ... But not on any other page on the browser.... any ideas?
Its fine on chrome.... but on ie and just this url it is coming in very small even when i close and re-open.... anyone help? Sorted... it was the zoom function on IE
Yorkie, next time hold down Control (ctrl) and scroll up/down, will sort it for you. Otherwise you could close the page, clear your cookies and reopen it, would fix it too
