Most of you will know that we held a meeting @ The Wellington Pub Marquee on 10 June. We arranged it because of the lack of news coming from the club. We had no idea how many would attend and of how the meeting would go. On the night over fifty fans turned up and we had an excellent meeting with a full and frank exchange of views and ideas from supporters of all age groups. Since then we have had good coverage in the Bristol Post and Sunday Independent. In the ensuing two weeks there has been little further news from the club. We still do not know the scope, nature and timeline of the review; and to whom it will be made available. No date has been announced for Nick Higgs' Q&A which was to be open to all fans. The SC EGM raised more questions and concerns than answers. To all intents and purposes little, if anything, has changed. In fact some of the points made at the EGM have possibly given some supporters more reason for concern. We feel it is important to agree on which points we would most like answered by the Board, and our responses to some of the things that came out of Tuesday night's SC EGM; that way we will not waste any time when the Q & A takes place. We are reaching out to the club, they have so far refused to reach out to us. We may have to respond in different, smarter ways to inspire change and belief in OUR club again. Therefore we have arranged a second meeting on: TUESDAY 1st JULY 7.30pm The Wellington marquee. This meeting is open to ALL Rovers Supporters. We need to keep up the pressure for change. In doing so we need to be constructive, respectful and united. Further details will be posted closer to the date; please try to attend, your opinions count. The more who attend, the louder our voice!
Dear Supporters, There will be another article in The Bristol Post tomorrow explaining what went on at the meeting on June 10th, outlining "supporters" continuing frustration with the lack of dialogue from the club with the fanbase in general, and with regards to a review of the club's workings. It will also mention why we are having a second meeting on July 1st. We are sensitive about the need to keep things moving so expect decisions about more actions. UTG ! Mark
Here it is in the Post today as mentioned above.... http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Protes...Rovers-board/story-21277159-detail/story.html
Just to let everyone know. We have invited both Bristol Post and Radio Bristol along for Tuesday's Supporters meeting at The Wellie - awaiting replies but we are hopeful. So make sure you comb your hair and your Rovers shirts are nicely pressed !! If anyone is still hesitating please come along - you will meet a fine crowd of passionate, committed Gasheads like yourselves and this really is about the future of OUR club. Up The Gas !
Dear Friends I regret I shall be unable to attend this meeting due to a family funeral on the same day and as I have recently come out of hospital, I am unable to drive myself. Nevertheless I do hope to com along to a meeting at a later date providing the aims are positive and to the benefit of Bristol Rovers FC. I look forward to learning the outcome. I have been striving for open meetings for Supporters - hence the recent Supporters Club EGM and Nick's recent pre-match Q and A's. As you will have seen the club have announced a Fans Forum which is open to all members (ticket in advance due to numbers) on 21st July. I do hope you will be able to attend this meeting. To me, the most important thing is open and frank dialogue (that is within the remit allowed) although some claim this is simple an excuse to not communicate which I agree should be and will be much better I hope from here on. I note in the final line of the above thread a meeting for all passionate and committed Gasheads. May I point out we all are that is why we will continue to support our club through thick and thin and that is why so many people volunteer their services without thought of financial reward. The only reward we seek is a successful and thriving football club in which we can all share in its success. I hope with the changes due to be announced shortly, those days are on their way. I am delighted with the players Darrell has signed and those he has retained. I know more a re on the way. Perhaps with work due to start on the new stadium soon the jigsaw is at last starting to come together, but I appreciated there is a very long journey ahead in which we need to all stick together if we are to succeed. Best wishes UTG Brian SS
Brian May I first say again offer my condolences for your sad loss to your sister. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. As always Brian, thank your for your time in visting our fans forum when you get the chance. I know we aint the biggest forum but we are still growing especially since the OS forum has shut down. Its a shame you cant attend the meeting that has been organised but I think everyone will understand your reasons. You mentioned above "I hope with the changes due to be announced shortly" - do you have any idea when this will be announced? This coming week? Before the start of the season? With the open meeting on 21st July, how many tickets will be available? Thanks again Brian and appreciate you coming to Not606
to all at the mem, excuse this intrusion, but the very best of luck in the conference. AJ is hoping you bounce staight back up like we fortunately did. good liuck to the Gas! from the Strawberry Tinpots.
Thank you Brian....and my good thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this difficult time. I'm one of the 'architects' of the meetings at the Wellington, and I can assure you that true Rovers' fans are involved with the best intentions for our team at heart. The groundswell of support for us must be an indicator for you of the depth of anger and frustration which still exists amongst us. If you will allow me to say so, please stick your head above the parapet a little more. You are in a position of strength in that you were elected by fans. If other directors did not approve what could they do? There would be a huge outcry of support for you if you were stating what everyone could see is the self-evident truth. You must find yourself in a difficult position at times; but fans feel a string disconnection with the club. You and Ken are in the best position to stand up and point us in the right direction! Anyways, best wishes and it would be good to see you soon well and healthy.
Thanks CJS. Mark, Jon and I had a good planning session this evening..tomorrow should be a productive meeting. Would be great to see representation from this board there...it was good to meet Bb at our first meeting.
Please please come if you are still not sure and are sitting on the fence about going. It will be an exciting night(well not quite as magic as Gas beating the sh**) but exciting news to be announced and plenty of opportunities for all of you to join in on. Let's keep the impetus going to unify our GREAT support ! Up The Gas ! Mark
