Park Chu-Young (South Korea) and Essaid Belkalem (Algeria) both played for Watford during the 2013-14 season. South Korea South Korea have won just one of their last six World Cup group stage games (D3, L2). In two previous World Cup games against African sides they beat Togo 2-1 in 2006 and drew 2-2 against Nigeria in 2010. They have scored in each of their last five World Cup matches, but have never scored in six successive games. The Asian nation have only won five of their 29 World Cup matches (D9, L15). They average a goal per game. South Korea have ended the group stage with a record of one win, one draw and one defeat in each of their last two World Cups (2006 & 2010). Algeria Algeria are winless in their last seven World Cup matches since beating Chile in 1982 - their only ever victory. They had only three shots (including blocks) against Belgium - the lowest tally in the opening round of the group stage. The Desert Foxes have scored just two goals in their last 11 hours and 25 minutes of World Cup football. Their starting line-up against Belgium consisted of nine players who were born in France.
This is the first match of the tournament I've considered deliberately not watching... but **** it, I'm going to watch it anyway.
Can someone genuinely answer me this, why has he got a job? I have never come across anybody who thinks he is even slightly bearable, surely ITV must know this and get a replacement in? Got to the stage now where I can't watch any of the build up or HT/FT stuff and just switch over when the actual game is on.
My theory is that they gave Chiles a 'Pardew like' contract for that Daybreak programme and as such were not able to axe him completely, so his lawyers worked their magic and got him shoehorned into the football side of things!! I'm going to be extremely upset if South Korea go the whole tournament without unleashing the Wookie, I so wan't to see that man in action
No they're great, they have the Wookie who I only heard of the other day but I can already tell he's class.
Typical, I go and sort out a bit of food and come back to see it's 2 nil! I see the third being scored though. Come on South Korea, grab a goal!
With any luck we'll get to see him, and when he comes on and fails to impress it's not my fault because FIFA! Have a crack with Ulsan Hyundai though and check him out, he's a monster and belies the 70 odd overall stat he has.
