With rumours we are going to up our bid to £7 million for McCormack I would once agin throw in the name Jozy Altidore???? I think Sunderland would sell for £7 million, he would be a beast in the championship and think he may possibly come to us!

I would think that after the season he had, we would be able to get Altidore for less than £7m. The concern would obviously be that he has only scored 4 goals in 58 Premiership games; on paper he looks a good player but he seems to struggle to translate that to the pitch.

That's an excellent point, FulhamIreland. If there is a correlation, it would ease a lot of my statistical concerns! Does anyone know any Leeds or Cardiff fans who could clarify for us?

Altidore seemed to take a nasty nock in the game against Ghana.
We all know that FFC have a reputation for paying top price for the walking wounded
so lets see how bad his injury is.

We'll only sign him if it's really bad!

Leeds are obviously playing the auction game for Ross McCormack’s signature as his price appears to be rising:

”Cardiff are NOT in the race to sign Leeds United striker Ross McCormack, leaving Norwich, Fulham and Derby to fight for his signature.

The 27-year-old scored 29 goals in what was a turbulent season on and off the pitch for the Yorkshire side. That has seen him targeted by a host of clubs looking to boost their striking options.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was reported to be lining up a £9million bid for the Scot four years after the Bluebirds offloaded him to Leeds for £350,000. However, talkSPORT understands Solksjaer, having recruited Adam Le Fondre, Federico Macheda and Javi Guerra this summer, is happy with his forward options and is looking to strengthen his squad elsewhere. Fulham, Norwich and Derby all remain keen on McCormack, however, and are set to step up their interest in the prolific hitman.

Relegated Fulham are understood to be leading the chase for his signature, having already held extensive talks with Leeds about a deal.”

Elsewhere there are stories that our “extensive talks” are based on a take it or leave it offer of £6m plus Marcello Trotta.

Marcello however would seem to have his eye elsewhere -

”Marcello Trotta has claimed that "many" Italian clubs are "interested" in his services.

The 21-year-old has spent the previous two seasons on loan with League One outfit Brentford. He has since returned to Fulham, but with his future at Craven Cottage unclear, Trotta has conceded that he is flattered by the links with teams back in his homeland. "I have not yet talked with the executives to understand what the club want to do with me. I know that in Italy many teams are interested in me and that makes me happy. Together with my agents I will evaluate the offers," he told tuttomercatoweb.com.”

I've seen a few reports linking us with Adam Taggart, a 21 year old striker from Australia. He's currently playing for Newcastle Jets as a strike partner for Emile Heskey (learn from the best eh?). He's just turned 21 and got 16 goals in 25 games and finished as the league's top scorer last season. From what I've read he's a good finisher, fast and a very hard worker. He has also got 3 in 5 for the Australia senior team. He's in the squad for the World Cup so I'll be keeping an eye out for him.

I know people want us to promote our current youngsters but he looks the part for me and wouldn't break the bank. If Mitroglou and Hugo are off then bringing in McCormack and another striker would make sense. Maybe somebody with a bit more experience would be better but if he's good enough, he's old enough (and the same applies to our current youngsters too, obviously.)

Agree FI. Only Cahill is keeping him out of a good Aussie World Cup team (weren't they so unlucky against Holland!!)

The story about us being "in talks" with him has legs in Australia:

Well, Cahill is suspended for Australia's last game, so maybe we'll get the chance to have a better look at him.

I hope that the powers to be at the club buy wisely, and Felix can jell them into a
    premiership club once again.

Reading through the names of the want aways, and the transfer figures talked about we
could expect to receive about 24/28 mil, this in itself could purchase us a quality forward
    and a couple of defenders.
Lets hope this is the case, and does not end up in Khans coffers.

I doubt we'll see that much, Ros, even with the sale of Mitroglou. I just hope for a coherent recruitment approach - team spirit is almost as important as talent and flair right now; if we can get a stable first team, we can start to bring our youngsters in properly and we could see something special. Here's hoping!

    £24 million isn't that optimistic

    Mitroglu - £8 mill
    Ruiz - £4 mill
    Stekelenberg - £3 mill
    Kasami - £5 mill
    Trotta - £1 mill

    There's 21 and I'm sure I have forgotten somebody

Absolutely - even with the £15m parachute payment, we have to manage a £40m revenue shortfall.

Spot on Surly. We know there's quality among the youngsters (primarily the U18s) but as you say, they need to be eased in. It'd be delusional to think we can throw them in at the sharp end and for the duration.

Perhaps I should be more specific - I doubt we'll see that much up front.

But I stand corrected. If you add Kaca and Richardson or Dejagah to that, I guess that is the £24-28 million mentioned.

Anyone watching Ghana Germany???? The whole Ghana team are so exciting g to watch quick powerful attacking!!!

There right back Harrison Afful looked so good getting up and down, lightening fast attacking and is playing for Sporting Du Tunis in Tunisia
A couple of the others impressed as well Wakaso Mubarak who he came on is at Rubin Kuzan and Christian Atsu of Fc Vitesse Arnham!

John Pantsil was picked up by West Ham from nowhere after a impressive World Cup, I would be happy with any of these players

Totally agree cookie. Great players with a great attitude. Wonderful game to watch. I have felt for along time now that some of England's players are over coached and have lost their nature raw desire to win at all costs. Ghana and Germany showed tonight that total commitment and desire to win at all costs in what counts, amazing fitness from both sets of players and never say fine attitudes.

We are reported to be in for another World Cup Aussie. This time it's left back Jason Davidson.

"Fulham have reportedly won the race to sign Australia left-back Jason Davidson. The 22-year-old, who is currently with his country at this summer's World Cup, is available on a free transfer after running down his contract with Dutch side Heracles Almelo.

A number of European clubs had been linked with a move, but according to The Sun, Fulham have agreed terms with the defender over a move to Craven Cottage.

Davidson, who has made nine appearances for his country, joined Heracles from Pacos de Ferreira in 2012."

This guy may be just what we want, but I would still feel happier if we spent some money on quality
Walker maybe and say make a bid for a talented defender appearing in the world cup.
The full backs from Chile and Costa Rica looked useful.
