I don't know who this "Charlie" fellow is but it seems AKCJ is a bit embarrassed because a joke went sailing straight over his head. He better get used to embarrassment as he's got 38 Leicester games coming up that he needs to endure.
I don't think the Palace thing was ever a problem. He really, really wants to stay here, has done since the start of his loan spell and at times last season the club's media people had to stop him from publicly stating his desire to leave Tottenham for us as soon as he could. The problem was always going to be the fee. It looks like we've got our man but we've probably overpaid, and I think it's simply because the club were desperate to get at least one big deal done to generate some interest in season tickets. If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball I don't understand all the anger at Andy here. He's only saying we've overpaid, which most of us agree we have.

Well if the Allams are as good at business as they say they are, then they won't consider it overpaying as they will see it as a 'merited' signing. If they aren't worried about it, then fine. If they're just blindly buying players to appease the fans, that's when it could get ugly. I'm glad he's in talks with us, he was a cracking loan signing and I think he'll only get better. He'll be back in the England set up in no time if he plays the way he did last year.

christ everything is a go t the Allams isnt it. We had to pay the market price. Simple as that. He will have been Bruce's number one priority signing. IF Spurs asked ten million the Allams wouldnt have paid it and bruce wouldnt have wanted them to. His price went up cos he had a great season with us. Spurs knew that. HE was touted around. Other clubs obviously were interested. So we had to pay more even after hard negotiating.
Timing seems a bit funny though doesn't it? We were obviously holding on to get a good deal for Livermore. Then suddenly after a **** week where we lose out on Lescott, more nonsense with the badge, season ticket sales well down. What better way to combat that, while building on the fact that England have just been knocked out and people's thoughts will be moving back to club football, then to get one big signing in? The Livermore deal was always one we were going to do but it was a case of how much. He was never going to Palace. Tottenham will have said months ago we can have him when we want if we pay the asking price. We'll have said he's not worth that and hoping to hold out for a better deal later on, which might well have worked. But now with the above situation and need to do something positive, the club could easily just agree to the original asking price and that's a deal almost done instantly. On top of that when does the club confirm anything about transfers officially until it's a done deal? Again the timing seems to point to the club wanting us to hear some good news right about now. It's not even a dig at them really. It's not necessarily a bad thing.
I assumed he meant their promotion from league 1 to the championship, a league Leicester were already in?
The London Evening Standard are reporting the fee as £6m and they're probably more reliable than Burnsy, so it might not be as much as was first suggested.
