I have been teaching in China for a few years now, it is a great place in my opinion.
January can be very unpleasant here, Shanghai in winter is particularly cold, but if you wait for the summer you may think too hot, (today was a pleasant 30C). Gets up into the 40's July and August.

For places to visit, many people come here and only see Shanghai and Beijing, they are both good cities to visit. There is so much more to see here but the size of the country means lots of travelling, the train system over here is very good, can get crowded but very cheap.

January average temperature is about or just above freezing, on a bad day it could get to about -10.

Yes, I am teaching EFL, mostly preparing students for IELTS, so they can go to university overseas.

Just like anywhere you get some people hate any foreigners, most of the locals here are very friendly. They hate the Japanese here and maybe they have a different attitude towards foreigners in Japan.

I am working for a company called AEF, they are based in Dalian (in NE China). Two other foreign teachers here one US and one from Canada. Used to work for an agency, but many of them charge schools too much and pay little.
