Wolves are eyeing Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

The Express & Star says Wolves manager Mick McCarthy wanted to recruit Evans more than two years ago, before Wolves were promoted, but the Northern Ireland international enjoyed two separate loan spells at Sunderland instead, helping Roy Keane’s side to the Championship title in 2006-07 and then gaining Premier League experience the season after.

But Wolves have kept a close eye on the 24-year-old and McCarthy would relish the chance of signing Evans.

Evans, who has been United’s back-up with Chris Smalling in the absence of Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic, has seen his chances of regular football take a dip with the £20million arrival of Phil Jones this summer.

Much better than Brown deffo worth a punt.

It seems so obvious and so simple to choose and stick a bid in for Evans instead off Brown. I don't understand why the club havent done that..

Maybe SAF has said he isn't for sale..

Evans was very popular with the fans when he was here, which might just count for something if all the financial offers are similar.

It must off been a bit off both. With Keane being here it would of given us that edge over the competitors who where trying to sign him also cause we would of had that Man United connection. He must of came to the club for Roy Keane in his first season and then in his second season I think he would fo came cause he enjoys being at the club and liked the club as a whole and it wasn't just the United connection etc...

Would be a great signing if we could get him - Bruce being an ex SAF central defender might also count for something? (Here's hoping!)

Give it a whirl got nowt to lose, also read somewhere Stoke have bid 6mil for Sturridge. Now I'm not saying Chelsea will sell for that (maybe closer to 12mil) but surely we should be looking at these types of player.

Evans must like the club - regardless of keane. He was idolised up here. Hope he is up for sale because we would have a great chance of getting him. Just want Brown to turn around now and pout - "but you wanted me! What do I do now? Play in front of 25000 at Blackburn? It's not fair! Pick me! Pick me! Sorry!"

Brown can **** off. I get sick of players like him who only regard a handful of clubs as 'worthy' of his talents. We've got big crowds, a class stadium, fantastic training facilities, plenty cash, a top ten position and bags of potential. You don't like it, **** right off.

    Phew! Rant over :)

Fergy will not sell Evans the same as Wellbeck, and as for Wes brown he got some stick from Man u supporters last season so is he good enough for us ?. O shea and Gibson would be good signings and Nzogbia could come here next season when he is out of contract.
