Now a dead rubber, so what should Roy do - only play kids - play squad players - who should he pick?

Personally I think the time has come for Gerrard to step down after the World Cup - he's been a great servant to England and is the captain - therefore he starts in my team - our chance to say goodbye (and show a bit of respect to the man)

    My Team:

    Hart
    Smalling - Jones - Cahill - Shaw
    Wilshere - Gerrard
    Sterling - Rooney - Oxlaide-Chamberlain
    Sturridge

I would kick Gerrard as far away from the team as possible...... He's had enough respect by being given the Captains arm band. He doesn't deserve to start.... but he will because I think Hodgeson has his head up his ass..

    Anyway who I would pick

    Hart
    Jones Cahill Shaw
    Wilshere Lallana
    The Ox Barkley Sterling
    Rooney Sturridge

Time to look at new options. For me the team Roy picks for this game will say a lot about his future as England manager. If he plays Lampard or Gerrard then he should resign. For my money Welbeck, Jagielka and Baines have all been dire and somebody else should get a chance. If we had enough suitable options I would probably ditch Johnson & Cahill as well, but Chris Smalling is not appealing option at right back

We can keep saying we have a Golden generation in waiting, but if they never get a chance it's an empty statement.

    I would like to see

    Hart
    Johnson Jones Cahill Shaw
    Sterling Wilshire Barkley
Lallana Ox (If fit) Henderson (but swap positions with Barkley)
    Sturridge

    -------------Seaman-----------
    Cole------Adams----Terrry----Neville
    Waddle----Gascoine---Platt--Beckham
    ----------Shearer-----Owen

    <whistle>

    Or borrow Giggs and Bale

No Rooney because he's out of form or don't you rate him?

As its a nothing but pride game I think Woy should take a look at a few other players. I would go with
    Hart
    Johnson Cahill Smalling Shaw
    Wilshire Barkley
    Sterling Rooney Ox(if fit)
    Sturridge

As its a nothing game, I still think Roy will want to win. Personally, I would start with Lambert up top with Sturridge and Rooney in the hole behind. Neither Johnson or Smalling appeal so I would start with Jones at right back and go with a 3-5-2 ish formation. I would also swap Shaw for Baines.

    Hart
    Jones, Cahill,Shaw
    Sterling, Barkley, Wilshire, Rooney, Ox
    Sturridge, Lambert

Doubt if it will look anything like that, but as I said, its a dead rubber and why not.

I like ROD's team the best but how will Gazza's parrot be listed in the programme? There hasn't been a single player who has come out of this debacle with any possibility of accolades, but nothing new there.

For we Canadian imports on this board the term "dead rubber" is highly amusing. They are the kind of things normally found on the local common after a night of debauchery. LOL

Shame we'll still have terrible defence with the likes of Smalling and Jones

Don't think Woy, or the players, will want to go home after 3 defeats. So I expect he won't change much from what he saw as his best side. Ox may come in if fit. Expect Lampard to come on at some point as a send-off for a good servant. Our best hope is CR deciding to rest a load of their team. How depressing is that!

    ---------Forster------------

(anyone but johnson) -- Cahill -- Jagielka --- Shaw (worst back 4 England have ever put out..!!!!)

    Sterling -- Barclay -- Wiltshere -- Lallana --- Ox

    Sturridge

I would play Flanagan at right back but he's not in the squad?

The rest have had it with me, Gerrard has done nothing with England, times up.. and we surely got better Central defenders than these 2 somewhere..

Rooney, well 2 goals, one for him and one assist? 7 goals in qualifying but the mans got the demeanour of someone who doesn't want to be there. ! well **** off then..

Both Lampard and Gerrard will be retiring after this World Cup. At least, I hope so. It's the right time for both to bow out.

Gerrard has had his chance, so I'd swap him for Lampard and play all the players that have at this point not featured. Go with youth and let them have a crack at the (apparently) strongest team in the group.
