A player like Suarez doesn't need the side formed around him, he will be outstanding in any team.

FACT: England haven't looked like an authentic international side since Gascoigne.
If Hodgson had picked a team to beat the opposition we would have done. Even against Ecuador I commented that we looked stronger without Gerrard and his blunderbuss passing. We should have used Wilshere alongside Hendo and Barkley alongside Rooney, Lallana in place of Welbeck and then we would have worried the opposition with our passing and controlled the match. They must have been blowing up the party balloons when they saw England's team sheet.

There's not a team in the finals that wouldn't have Rooney in there side, what kind of joke is that, what your saying he's good enough for a world eleven, living in cloud cuckoo land pal.

Every player that plays with Rooney says what a good player he is

Well there not going to say otherwise are they, so do you think he's good enough to get in a world eleven.

    Other International XI's?

He is admired by many. Iniesta and Xavi have said he is the type they would like to see at Barcelona. Looking at Spain he would have suited them more than Costa does. Brazils Fred and Jo v Rooney? Rooney easily.

I was told by a Cardiff fan that Hodgson did not watch one Cardiff game last season. And Caulker has a clause in his contract he can't leave till July 12th. Cardiff must of been expecting him to go to the World Cup, raising his value.

A perfect scenario would be Cardiff get peanuts for him and he goes to a team that will actively play him. He has so much class, even though I'm not as old as some on here he's the best player I've ever seen down the gate

I don't care if Cardiff make a bit of money on him, they took the chance with him. We saw his quality whilst all the ones now who want him wouldn't take a gamble.

If it wasn't for Cardiff he would still be wasted on Tottenham not playing him.

Alan Dick - try reading the comment and understanding. It doesn't say he would be in a world eleven it says that any of the other teams would have him in there ranks. Is that clear enough??

I very much doubt that the likes of Spain, Holland, Belguim, Brazil, Argentina or Germany would have Rooney as a regular starter in their national side, whereas I suspect the likes of Iran, Australia, Honduras would be salivating at the prospect of Rooney in their team.

This World Cup has proven that at the very highest level he is not good enough, in 2 games he has had 3 absolute sitters (all under 10 yards out, I might add), he has scored 1 of them, then look at a real world class player like Suarez, 1 game and 2 goals from nothing and made our defence look like a pub team.

Rooney is not world class, perhaps a few years back but not at the moment, perhaps Scholes was right he may well be past his best (as is Fernando Torres by the way)

Rooney would be a starter for a lot of teams. As a ten playing in the hole or as a false nine he would work well for Spain and really well in the past. That of course does not make him Messi.

I agree he would Red, but none of the really top world class nations, as I stared above. You cannot call him world class only if he plays in a side full of quality players who lay on chance after chance for him, that would make almost any player look world class.

I come back to the point, that if you want to be viewed globally as one of the worlds best you have to shine at a tournament like the world cup and Rooney our supposed World class striker has missed 2 absolute sitters, which would have seen us draw both games and still be well in the mix for advancing to the knockout stages, and that is what sets apart a world class player from a good/very good player.

Spain are top notch or were. Messi hasn't really shone in the World cup either. Rooney was cracking at Euro 94 [ long time ago yes] and was better than Ronaldo who again would not be rated by the you have to shine at a tournament like the world cup o mometer. Ronaldo also misses these absolute sitters most do.

Rooney is / can be very good amongst also poor. Going from back to front the same cannnot be said of the rest of the England team goimng beyond mediocre. England would be well in the mix for advancing to the knockout stages if they were better at defending as a team and were not so bang average. they have improved a bit but not enough. No suprise there.

    Euro 94 ?

But yes Rooney will be a good player in other teams, he's proved countless times for Manure that given the correct team he can make the difference.

Slight slip there 2004. Was out in Portugal for that and Rooney was flying in a decent England team. The England team has gone backwards and Rooneys form is wildly up and down but his dropping deeper as a player I would maintain would get him into a lot of national teams as a number ten including good ones.

Clear enough, but he still wouldn't get in most teams, not good enough, by the way its Alan Dicks, did you miss spell or did you mean something else.
