what id love to see is Hodgson offer a friendly against Spain somewhere in Brazil where they share the bill and allow England / Spanish holding passport fans in for free .

He can play whoever he wants for me, never expected us to do well and Woy frankly has never been the right guy for the job! I've never been so disinterested in the national team.

The most important factor in what team Woy chooses will be the fact that our first Euro 2016 qualifier, against Switzerland, is only 2 and a 1/2 months away.

He will be in charge for that match, and although he will have other players available to him who are not in this World Cup squad, the majority of the players who will play in September are currently in Brazil.

Therefore, clearly, his team selection must reflect this position.

Not a time to give everyone game time.
    Not a time to experiment.
    Not a time for sentiment.

It's a time to prepare for the next qualification tournament.

In Woys hands we will achieve bu**er all in The Euro's in spite of the supposed relatively easy qualification group we are in. The fact The FA are standing by Woy after such an abysmal World Cup is an insult to all footie fans. No ambition by standing by this total failure. In any other job to fail by such a margin would see you shown 'the door'. I had little respect for The FA prior to The World Cup, now personally I have none!

Hoddle was relieved of his duties following publication of an interview which included this quote.

"My beliefs have evolved in the last eight or nine years, that the spirit has to come back again, that is nothing new, that has been around for thousands of years. You have to come back to learn and face some of the things you have done, good and bad. There are too many injustices around."
"You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow, you have to reap."

"You have to look at things that happened in your life and ask why. It comes around."

Hoddle does have some good ideas, but let's face it, he's also a bit hatstand (see above).

Gerrard will get 55 minutes or so on Tuesday, I imagine, as a farewell appearance. Lampard will probably make a late sub appearance too as a send-off.

As for changes, Barkley and perhaps the Ox are probably most likely to be given a go. And maybe Wilshere in Henderson's place.

A part time Mourinho (subject to Chelsea's ok) and supported by a full time staff would be better than Woy!

Whether its doable; who knows! Either way we have to think outside the box.

I fear you may well be correct but this is not Bernard from Accounts leaving do.

Are the younger players planning an embarrassing little skit alluding to the time Gerrard had one too many and temporarily lost his car keys at the office Christmas party?

Or are the team wags (unfunny comedic twats, not wives and girlfriends) going to glue Lampard's stapler to the desk one last time?

Will there be bunting and party poppers?

A speech by a slightly emotional Woy, reading snippets from Stevie's original application form, about how a young, go getting, thrusting buck planned to transform the England midfield over the next 10 years?

Will Frank be presented with a jokey present, midway through the second half? - perhaps a walking frame - before receiving an easel and set of oil paints, because he mentioned to Woy's secretary a couple of years ago that he was looking forward to having the time to paint again in his retirement, like he used to when he was a child?

Will the whole team burst into a spontaneous round of applause in the 88th minute, declaring that we'll never see the likes of those two again around here, before knocking off early and heading for that new place in town that's supposed to be really good.

FFS, forget both of them. No sentiment, no send off, no place on the pitch.

The future of England football starts here.

One issue for Woy: who should be England captain post-Gerrard?

I don't think it should be Rooney as he's a 28-year-old petulant baby. Not Hart as I don't agree with keepers as captains. So who does that leave? Cahill hasn't much experience of captaincy at big club level, but I'd be tempted to go for him.

Woy will opt for Rooney, of course.

I think it has to be Cahill. Didn't Wilshere once say he was interested in the captaincy?

He's not really put a foot wrong this tournament, which is pretty good going considering his defenders have been dire (excluding Cahill).

That's some way down the line yet. He has to stay fit for a while, work on completing his all-round game and nail down a regular place first.

Hoddle would be a good choice, but I'd also like someone in who knows how to sort the defence out.
