I think they could be in some bother next season and no its not wishful thinking.

The thing that they had last season and we sure did not have was that fighting spirit, hard spine and will to win. They seem, in my opinion, to be replacing that with potential skill, just think they may be going to far.

My thoughts exactly. It's easy to forget football is a team game, not a sport for a collection of continental fancy Dans with no stomach for a fight.

The reason you did so well in the derby games last season was your team spirit and fight, Nolan was at the heart of that, that's gone now and it'll be hard to get back looking at your current squad.

It amazes me how easily many of our supporters seem to have accepted the departure of Nolan as if it were inevitable. Malcolm Macdonald was talking a load of twaddle the other night on the Legends saying it was Pardew's way of breaking up the Scouse clique that is supposedly running the team. It's alright breaking up cliques but what if it involves ripping the heart out of your team? They don't seem keen on keeping Barton either - our best player in my opinion. I see only trouble ahead.

Barton was very good last season and almost had a blemish-free disciplinary record by his standards (only one blow-up). I can't see Pardew wanting him out, unless he has some daft idea about 'making the team his own' by getting rid of Hughton's players. Still, their problem and we have issues of our own.

We were in massive trouble when Carroll left as well. You've bought no one that could match our signings so far in fairness. Barely an improvement from your end, Nolan got offered a contract but wanted 5 years, for a 29 yr old? **** right off.

The players mentioned haven't left yet, some will, some won't, but we are replacing them.

I think it's a case of you lot speaking too soon again, let's just wait and see. <ok>

Blimey. If we can't say it seems daft selling the spine of the team, or at least being reported (rightly or wrongly) as wanting to, there's not much point in conversing, is there? Maybe Nolan did want too much, but he was still under contract and he was a player for you last season, ditto Barton. And you always think your signings are better than ours, but we'll just have to wait and see...

It's saying stuff like we will go down because we apparently have no fight, but have bought skill.

We will just have to wait and see I suppose. May will be here before we know it!

How can you say we are in trouble based on a player leaving. Let's wait until after we beat you in the derby if we can be consistent enough to get results. <ok>

Aren't you just a little bit worried about what is happening though Badger? You had a very successful season with a team that I was quite frankly envious of, because of the determination of the team and their willingness to fight for each other. As you say, so far only Nolan has gone, but for me he was the heartbeat of your team along with Barton, who if press reports are to be believed, will also be leaving before a ball is kicked next season. You can't really believe that these French guys will have the same fighting spirit as Nolan and Barton can you? Much of your success last season was down to bullying teams off the park, ourselves included, because your team had the ability to intimidate the opposition.

If I was a Mag, I would be worried at the thought of loosing my warriors and replacing them with a load of pretty boys who may be technically better than what you have, but will have zero ability to strike fear into opposition players.
