Just seen an article on the BBC regarding Scotland getting its own internet domain name. This move has been supported by the Scottish Government. Now I am well aware that this is probably a gimmick and I in no way think anything of it. It got me thinking how do Scots REALLY think about the idea of Independence? The SNP, who favour Independence got an overall majority at the last election as you know. A few Scots I know vote SNP and would be in favour but I also know a guy who votes SNP but would be against full Independence. He votes SNP as he believes they are the best at delivering for Scotland in the current format. What is the view of our resident Scots?
i vote snp because they are the only party who look out for Scotland and the Scottish but i couldnt give a **** about independance
Independence all the way. I don't hate England and like being british but maybe it's time for a change. The Scottish parliament has done so much more good than the UK parliament has, maybe we should give it a go. Mind you, I'm busy on voting day.
i'm not, i just prefer being part of a bigger country. i think i'd be more likely to be in favour of it if alec salmond didnt exist. the snp are good because they dont give a **** about abyone else and will always look out for scotland but the other parties have always got a westminster agenda. i still dont vote for them though because of that slimy toad looking ****
I think I would. I'm not a total "independence freak" or anything like that but I just feel that a change might be for the better. Nothing seems to be getting better just now under the UK govt. If there was a referendum tomorrow I'd be undecided, but if I had to put my X somewhere it would be for independence.
Salmond is a wee ****ebag. I went to the old parliament before the new one opened because that bawbag Jamie Stone invited our school. Salmond was getting interviewed off some young bird for the news and when it ended he went schizo at her because she asked some question he didn't like. Wee **** didn't have the balls to do it on camera because he'd look bad. Two-faced scrotum that he is.
Salmond is a slimey wee **** right enough. But a vote for independence isn't a vote for that wee prick. Venom, the big question is what would happen to the Oil revenue if Scotland was independent. What's the talk on the rigs?
To be honest I'd say that's one of the biggest barriers in the way of independence. There's no way that we'd get all that oil money, not a hope in hell. It basically kept Thatcher in power all those years. You only have to look at the money they're pulling in off the platforms at the minute. Shell are basically pulling out of Scotland apart from four platforms. It's only really the small operators that are doing well in the North Sea just now. All the big players are going to Russia and Brazil now (and they were finally in Libya...funny that they want Gadaffi out now)
Don't think you should vote for this. It's the small countries in the EU that are struggling. Salmond struts around like he's president already.
So the question is "could Scotland survive without the oil revenue?". If you say they're all pulling out then the UK is just as ****ed as an independent Scotland would be. I just can't make my mind up. At least the rig rape figures will go down though I suppose.
Luxemburg is one of the most wealthy (per head) countries in europe. Supposedly it's a boring **** place to visit but at least people there have a good standard of living.
