Having worked for them, I can say a lot of rubbish is put on the net. Maybe not as much in the print edition (never read it). BUT, they never focus much on the lower leagues, so there could be some truth in it. Hope so anyway.

the good thing about the link though is John Still being quoted confirming Green's departure - but just doesn't mention us...

well I don't remember us scoring many goals from free kicks or corners last season so he'd be more than welcome to take them all for us!

What Super said about his time working for The Sun (I'll try not hold that against you ;) ) quite simply reinforces what I've been informed by others, that papers such as the Sun make up a story if they can't find one. I wouldn't believe a word written on that toilet paper.

As for Green, I would really love to see us sign him, only worry for me is that he would displace Waggy in the side, who for me deserves to be playing a fair bit.

Is this really going to happen?

I talked at the end of last season about setting out our stall early for this campaign and announcing in no uncertain terms that we meant business - this would be way, way bigger than anything I was envisaging.

    Fingers crossed.

I reckon he will be our player soon. Then we can look at a few defenders, and maybe another striker. One of the other sites reckons BArnet are sniffing around McCormack, please let it be true, and he can take his mate Francis with him !

If a team based in the Solomon Islands was interested in Simon Francis I would pay his fare for him.

As a right-back with a weak centre back partnership I agree... but if you had two strong people at the back Francis at least has the advantage that he can go forward and cross, plus he adds height, which is something we sadly lacked last year (although I'm struggling to recall what we didn't lack last year)...

Fair point on the crossing and the determination to go forward. But some of the away matches I went to last season I was driven to absolute fury by his inept positioning and propensity to give away possession cheaply. Perhaps he should be given a go at centre back because he has played there before and done well according to a SUFC fan I know.

Wouldn't complain if he went on the basis of last season, think there's still room for him as a squad player to cover the back 3 (I'd have nightmares at the thought of him playing at left-back... for us that is). 2nd choice RB/4th choice CB would be suitable. But, then again, would he have got in the South Coast Club squad last year? Probably not, and that's the standard we need to get out of this league... hmm... who was Saints' 2nd choice RB... Frazer Richardson... sign him up!

Richardson, for me, was a bit like Francis in as much that he would embark on those bombastic runs forward and then end up chasing back madly as the oppo counter-attack. A good balance between rock steady and attacking threat would do nicely. I would take Solly over Francis and probably Richardson.

I got frustrated with Solly at the end of last season... just felt he wasn't getting any better... but love to be proved wrong, especially by one from through the ranks. Off the back of the end of last season I'd lose him though.

The long injury lay-off was obviously detrimental to him kicking on last season. But I believe a good pre-season will get him back on track. Like you say, TVR, to see one of our youngsters doing well is great for the club and fans alike.
