I've only ever been around the central belt. The Glasgow sandstone makes the place look drab as **** I must say.
There is a Pictish stone in a field about a mile from where I grew up and they never bothered to cover it up. When the farmer used modern pesticides/fertilisers or whatever it attacked the stone and wore all the carvings off.

Paisley only has a few red sandstone buildings - they've always been seen as the upmarket ones. Blonde sandstone is yer Paisley cooncil standard.
