    1. We lack any world class players, maybe Gerard on his day but not when he's got an England shirt on
    2. Sturridge and Wellbech are not international quality strikers
    3. Glen Johnson whilst not the worlds best defender is played for his ability to come forwards but has NO final ball.
    4. We can't take throw ins
    5. We're **** at corners
    6. We not great at free kicks
    7. We don't pass very well
    8. We find it difficult to keep the ball
    9. We don't shoot enough
    10. Our arial threat is poor.
    11. Our Midfield provides little protection to the back 4.
    12. Our centre back paring looks ropey as ****
    13. we seem to lack a sense of passion and energy on the pitch.

    14. Our goalkeepers tend to let us down when needed most.

Point 13 is the real stand out, there is no sense of outrage by the players themselves that they are not performing well, no willingness or desire to prove that that they can perform better than that.

Heh, thats exactly what I was going to say, hart is poor for an international goalie.
He nearly conceded twice direct from a corner, even I knew only to stand 3 to 5 yards off your goal line only when it was an out swinger.

Trouble is, I think most are performing at their standard, they just aren't good enough and even then, the manager has them performing at less than the sum of their parts.

Can anyone tell me a worse England team than this? I think wed have to go back further than I can remember.

Wholeheartedly agree, now that Uruguay captain was a complete c#nt, lucky not to get sent off, however he was a passionate c#nt who was willing to do anything to win that game.
If I was wearing that white shirt I'd be fighting tooth and nail to get a result, Barton's tweet is true and the truth hurts.

What's El Tel doing these days?

England expects as only England does ... start there IMO

I actually think England has some very bright expressive players ... in fact the penny may have dropped

The blame game is pointless ... There is still a slim chance that England can qualify ... watch the spirit change if that happens

I would prefer that England don´t qualify for these tournaments then my senseless pride of being English and my unfounded conviction that we might actully win something would not take a beating every time we play.

    15. Rubbish at tournament football

For a team quite good at qualifying for tournaments we fall apart when we arrive. Is it the weight of expectation? The media pressure? Who knows...Italy and Uruguay were not that much better than England but know how to get through the early rounds. For a country of only 3 Million people Uruguay have some record!

    16. Running around with a stone hanging from their necks - ie. carrying over 50 years of failure onto the pitch with them.
    17. The tendency to get worse during tounaments whereas other sides improve during them.

I honestly don't want us to qualify now. To scrape in through the backdoor with only 3 points having lost twice would be unfair. What's crazy is that with another set of results somebody could go out with 6 points in this group.

have to second that - this team compared with the 2010 lot look much better when it comes to going forward and actually keeping the ball.

Defensively though they're worse than their predecessors

Without doubt for me, there's still a point missing.

    18. We do not have someone whose sole aim is to hit the back of the net every time.

We need a finisher. We can't go round expecting all the goals to come from midfielders running through. And the current team is being played effectively as a 4-6-0. All of the front 'four' are playing in midfield, swapping round, making clever little flicks and darts into channels, and achieving nothing. We need someone like Owen / Shearer / Sir Les to stay up front, play up front, and be deadly in and around their box - not yet another midfielder who can get there but then screw it up.

The stats from last night say it all - Uruguay had two shots on target. Both went in.

We don't have that ruthless, greedy player who simply wants to score goals all day long.

Defensively, we are OK, but lack concentration for 90 minutes. That's a mental thing, not a technical thing. The younger players coming through are clearly hungry and talented, but this tournament they lacked experience. Won't be the same in 2016 Euros, or in Russia in 2018. This one probably came 2 years too soon for a changing side.

...and England had loads of possession, just like Derby did - sometimes them's the breaks. I'm glad it was this way round... we'd only have gone and blown it in the next game.

It's the hope that kills - it would be better to be actually eliminated than stand a chance of scraping through and then sweat 90 mins against Costa Rica with another eye on the Italy Uruguay game because I can't see the results going our way even if we do beat them. It would be just like us to give them a right spanking and for it all to be in vain.

Yeah, we had loads of possession - like Derby. And nobody who watched the Wembley match would argue that the outcome was harsh on derby - probably they deserved to win. Why when that same thing happens to England is it because we are crap? Overall, we played OK, had a couple of good performances (Sterling and Henderson both played well) but a few poor decisions let them in and they were ruthless.

Had the Derby defence hit row Z instead of allowing time for Hoilett to challenge, we'd be contemplating trips to Brentford and Rotherham instead of Arsenal and Liverpool. Same with last night. Foot through the ball instead of trying to be clever, and Suarez would have had nothing to crow about.

The team that qualified from the group equal top?

No chance. At least they made it to the second round, this lot might not even get a point.

    1. True but we have some players with excellent potential
    2. 100% agree Rooney is the most clinical but is not an up top striker
    3. V average player. shame Walker not fit
    4. No View
    5. To be fair you dont see may goals come directly from corners anymore
    6. Disagree, we have some v good deadball specialists. Rooney Gerrard Baines...what we dont have is the arial threat at the moment except cahill
    7. Yes we do, Italy and warm up games we have passed well. Uruaguy sat very deep as they were scared of our pace
    8. Used to but anymore, just think we lack patience which is not our way.
    9. Not the quality strikers
    10. 100% agree
    11. 100% agree the trouble is they need too much protection
    12. Jag useless, Cahill needs a new partner
    13. 100% disagree they have shown plenty, felt they have worked hard just lacked some a bit of intelligence last night

I honeslty felt we would struggle to get out of the group but ive been pleased we have given some talented youngsters a go. I look back to Germany when they took a young Walcott but never used him. Now we have 7/8 plus bright talent which are young and will only get better. The future is bright
