We're all open to the ways of increasing sales; the only exception being the owner who has missed so many sales opportunities it is shameful. On it's own the new badge looks good, but where does our name, and which name, come into play? A question for everyone: I agree with someone's comment that consultation would have been pointless and needlessly protracted, but that really relies on the decision makers working in the best interests of the club - do you think they are?
For those who have trouble accessing links... Club Reveal New Official Crest please log in to view this image The Club is pleased to reveal its new official crest which will be used on all club collateral from the start of the 2014/15 season. The new crest retains the familiar tiger at the heart of it whilst also adopting a clean, stylish and modern feel as we continue to evolve during this exciting era. Another nod to the heritage and history of our great Club comes with the inclusion of the year ‘1904’ at the base of the crest, which makes the most of current trends in business branding. Speaking at the unveiling of the new crest, Vice-Chairman Ehab Allam said: “We are delighted to unveil our new crest for 2014/15. “This is a more stripped back and modern approach which still celebrates the Club’s heritage and history by focusing on our famous and well established Tigers head. We have also introduced ‘1904’ to the crest to document the year our club was formed. “Our first ever step into European competition is a new era for us all and we are all excited about the season ahead.” The new crest will be used on our new playing kit for the 2014/15 season, which will be revealed next month, and will also feature on our official merchandise, marketing, communications and commercial ventures going forward. Due to the timescales involved in approval and production of our new playing kit, and due to the late nature of the decision on our application to change the Club’s name, consultation with the fans about the new crest wasn’t possible, but the importance of retaining the ‘tigers head’ logo, which has been synonymous with the Club for many, many years, was central in the design process. Going forward, we want to hear the views of our supporters on all aspects of the Club and details on how you can put your thoughts forward through our supporters’ working group can be found by clicking here. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/1415-new-crest-1650722.aspx#WyLHGxKqKmk8DJpG.99 As with most on here, I've no issue with the badge itself, it's just the attempt to remove the club's name from everything that pisses me off.
More lies from the Allams. That twat Mooney is no better. "We didn't know what we'd be called so we thought it would be best to drop the name". It's a despicable regime and they need to **** off. Quickly.
Phil Buckingham's take on it... Hull City unveil new club badge but drop name Hull City unveil new club badge but drop name By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: June 20, 2014 By Philip Buckingham citybadgenew The new Hull City badge, left, unveiled today. Tom Huddlestone with last season's strip and badge, also inset Comments (16) HULL City will not carry the club’s name on their playing kit next season after today unveiling a new badge for 2014-15. Abandoning a 13-year-old crest in favour of a reworked design, the words ‘Hull City AFC’ and ‘The Tigers’ have been removed. The popular Tigers head remains within a shield, accompanied only by ‘1904’ – the year of the club’s formation. City officials believe the modernised badge celebrates 110 years of history, but the absence of the club’s name is certain to spark debate among supporters. Two months after an application to become known as Hull Tigers was rejected by the Football Association, a new badge without mention of Hull City AFC is unlikely to prove popular with fans opposed to a name change. The FA’s Council voted in April it will be Hull City, rather than Hull Tigers, who compete in the Premier League from August, but that has not stopped owner Assem Allam from pushing ahead with his plans to change the face of the club. The badge used by City since former chairman Adam Pearson first took control of the club in 2001 has been absent from all season ticket paperwork, while promotions ahead of the new season have also carried only the Tigers head. A revised crest will now adorn a new Umbro home and away kit upon its unveiling next month, along with a lucrative sponsor that is still be confirmed. The new badge is the latest in a long line adopted by the club, but it is first time since the late 1970s ‘Hull City’ has not been included on shirt designs. City will brace themselves for a backlash from fans group City Till We Die, who have vehemently opposed any change to the club’s identity over the last year. They successfully helped convince the FA the name Hull City should not be changed but Allam was quick to suggest he would appeal the decision. No comment has since been made on that issue by the club’s owners but the business name of Hull City Tigers Ltd, registered at Companies House 15 months ago, has taken on a greater profile. Hull City Tigers is currently used in official club statements and for commercial operations. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...ory-21264690-detail/story.html?#ixzz35A8VgA8k
The badge itself isn't too bad but it is the fact that we know it is linked to the name change that makes it unpalletable and also that the promissed consultation didn't take place, the excuse of there not being enough time is yet another lie!
Nobody asked me wah wah nobody asked me. Oh actually thats quite good in fact its bloody good. But still nobody asked me.
A rebrand to improve our global profile, whilst missing off the actual name of the team, is truly truly embarrassing. You show this badge to someone who doesn't already know us, they won't have a clue who it is for.
Fair point but as we all know, this hasn't anything to do with global profile. It's all to do with a neurotic Egyptian who is trampling over the history of our football club because he feels aggrieved. Don't worry...those of a shallow disposition will forget all about it once we sign someone for £5m. Those with substance and some balls will continue the fight against the ****er.
though it does feel linked to the name change aggro Allam started , that they have dropped "the tigers" also should be noted . Its right though that nobody will see this as an idea thought to simplify the brands image but as a long winded way to make the name change to the club .
I think the 1904 bit looks a bit ****. Other than that I'm fine with it, the badge before this was nothing special.
And you show the old badge to someone in the rest of the world who can't speak/ read English and they'd know who we were?
'What the fans should be interested in - I will never change the colour, I will never change the logo, I will never remove Hull, I will never remove Tigers. 'These words were there for many years. I like the badge. I've seen people on twitter announcing they will not be renewing after seeing the badge, I do not get it, these people are the ones who think they are the true Hull City fans. You support your club through thick and thin, you don't stop because you don't like the badge or the chairman, you carry on supporting the club because you're a true supporter. I don't love this club because of the name, you don't start supporting a club because of it's name so why stop because of it's name. It's your local club that's what matters and if you're a true supporter you'll support them through anything.
First he took away our AFC then he took our city away now he has took the ****ing lot and left us with 1904.
I'm not a fan of Allam, however in his defence I reckon he thinks the 'logo' isn't the badge as such but the tiger's head. Even he's not stupid enough to remove the one image that is pivotal to his re-branding obsession.
