I'd personally say no. He never performs in the big games.

Had some great performances for United in big CL games and always plays well for United against Chelsea in big Premiership games. Seen Rooney play well in some big Prem games against City, Arsenal and Liverpool too.

For England, he has put in some big performances in crucial qualifiers but has not performed in a tournament since 2004.

Maybe Rooney is not world class in form at the mo, but he hates Moyes and just loves £

If we had got him at Chelsea, Mourinho would have motivated him, we would be walking the Premiership and he would have a chance of CL winners medal

    No chance at all.

The last world class players we had were the likes of Gazza and Shearer.
Both at the top of their game in their respective positions and consistently performed at world/Euro tournaments.
Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, Suarez are current masters of their art and what I'd call 'world class'.

    You are probably right.

But he Rooney has done well in big games in the Prem.

Gazza was world class briefly. Shearer was superb until his injury in 97, after he was vv good but not as good as before.

Maybe the last world class player we had was Lineker or going back to Keegan

Yes. He's consistently scored goals at the top level of English football.

I actually think Michael Owen was world class while at Liverpool and Real Madrid, but the injuries just destroyed him.

I pretty much agree with this, personally I'd add Toure to the list, because he is also a master at his position and I believe would get into any first 11 in world football.

Honestly don't think he's anywhere near world class. He has great games, but has also failed to show any sort of class at big tournaments - but no worse than any of our other so called world class english players who also do the same. We don't currently have a world class English player.

He's not in the top 10 strikers in world football.

1st ever world cup finals goal tonight I believe, for years this overweight, overblown self serving trailer trash has singlehandedly ruined any chance England ever had of making a half decent fist of it the world cup finals. Sterling was awful as was henderson Roy should have started with Barclay & Lambert.

Still now we are all but mathematically eliminated we won't have to suffer the Rooney this and Rooney that and that is truly something to celebrate lets hope his wife and sprogs have a good piss up in Rio with the 15 cases of scouse pikey moonshine Colleen brought over.

Tbf Ossie im not arsed about international football, yeah I like to see them do well etc, but in two years he might not even be in the England squad if his career is still on a downward spiral.

Ok he got the payrise but since then his form has dipped and hes sulked because he's not the main man anymore at Old Turdford.
