Hoddle. Even though he hates disabled people, he at least knows how to get players playing decent football and getting them playing more technically, something England lack.
I say give him the job in his next life. He can be the first Stephen Hawking like manager. Obviously by his own rules Hoddle will be a raspberry ripple next time round..
I have just started this thread on the Southampton and noticed you have one already. I'd go completely left-field and choose a recent England international who has had zilch experience at club management to date but has played at the highest level for club and country both in England and abroad. Step forward Mr Beckham. The list of Englishman who could be potential candidates at the moment is dismal!! Steve Bruce apart!!
Gary Neville analyses the play. Most managers only chat in generalities on TV. They are affected by budgets. You don't know about their tactical awareness because others are involved in their clubs. Gary Neville seems to have a strong personality.
Steve Bruce. I'm being serious, it's not impossible to manage a club and coach a national team. Saying that I think we should stick with Hodgson until 2016.
For England, what difference does a manager make. All of the recent ones have been too fearful of the media to make out of the norm changes. He bowed down to pressure tonight to move out best player vs Italy for someone that used to be a game changer. Hodgson made an error dropping Ashley Cole. He was unlucky at losing a couple to injury, namely Kyle Walker who despite being one of the most annoying of modern day players, is a big improvement on Glen Johnson. All ifs and buts now, but the 4231 didn't work. If England picked me then I'd play something like our 352. Both Johnson and Baines are better at going forward. Rooney up top with Sturridge and then two solid midfielders to allow Sterling to play where he wants
Think about the FA Cup Final. We played 3-6-1 and had so much choice when we had the ball. I liked that formation. England should also plan set pieces more: from throw-ins, corners, free kicks and penalties. We seemed totally lost at what to do when we had a throw-in tonight. At free kicks in front of goal we should consider hitting the ball hard and flat and follow in if the goalkeeper spills it rather than try to get the ball over the wall and under the bar.
Gary Neville for England manager? How many drinks have you had? Maybe in 15 years but who has he managed? Hodgson should stay as manager. We wanted young players picked, we got them. We wanted attacking football, we got it. We didn't expect anything, we didn't get it. Steve Bruce should only be considered if he has another few successful seasons, and though it pains me to say it, as an England fan I would also like to see him manage a club with higher pressure upon him. And finally, I would love to see Phil Brown in charge.
None of this 3-5-2 nonsense. I want to see England playing the English way. 4-4-2 with a little and large.
Andy, Are you still reeling from Spain's departure? I noticed you hadn't been on here whilst they were getting whooped?
I just don't see Roy being able to rally the troops, 1-0 down at half time, could you imagine that dull as **** half time team talk? I hope for the sake of English football he's toast. The whole set up needs reviewing - how with a population the size of our country we still continue to be so **** baffles me. We have been out fought by Uruguay with a population of 3.3m. With that minuscule population they still manage to produce two of the best centre forwards in the world. As football is our primary sport, there has to be some fundamental issues with grass roots football right the way through to the top. It has been for years, until we address it like France, Germany, Spain have done - we'll continue to be ****.
Glenn Hoddle. FACT. Give him Carte D'or to change English football from top to bottom. Sweep away all the bollocks thats mired English football for years. Poor coaching, full size goals for 9 year olds, win at all costs etc. We are **** really really ****. Worst back four I have ever seen. Poor old Wazza got all the grief but look how **** the rest are. Who out of that starting eleven would get in any England team of the last 25 years???
