Well Baines has been a let down. Johnson, I do not have a clue as to his inclusion, in any case. I have said from the start of this season that Clyne was destined for this World Cup, and I think if Chambers hadn't played so well and forced himself into the Saints team Clyne would have gone. Of course, saying that, Chambers did nothing wrong, but the wrong RB is at Rio. Hopefully [I hate having to fall back on stupid words like hopefully when referring to England because one shouldn't need to be that bloody desperate] Roy will see that there's no point in playing cagey now. Play Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana for 90 minutes so that they can get some proper experience. And give Rickie a start so that he can show that he should have been picked from the first game onward. Otherwise, why take them all..?
There was a thread last year on here about cricket. Failing that if you want dedicated cricket chat try CricketmatchSpecial, it's a great site, sorry Saints Mods
Get Harry in, Euro's 2 years time. We haven't got anybody else! We have got to stop picking the English players in the top 6 teams, they have just become automatic choice and it clearly isn't good enough. Especially when you here how much money they are on. This could make the premiership far better and players have to earn their place. Rooney scored tonight But let's face it as long as he is not injured then he gets picked, same with most of them.
Don't think Roy could have done much more, except maybe put Rickie on earlier, and Lallana also. He picked the same team as against Italy, and most people were in agreement that they played pretty well, and it was quite encouraging. Suarez was the difference. Our defending was poor, but he is a world class player, and England just do not have any of those anymore I'm afraid. Disappointing, but Uruguay were Semi-finalists 4 years ago, and were never going to be a walk over.
Very true about him latching on to it, and when he was in his purple patch form I wouldn't put it past him finishing it too!
**** that. Bring in the best candidate who's interested, I don't care where they come from and I don't care if they're not English. Plenty of other countries have managers of other nationalities and it works for them. Why does the England manager have to be English?
Be less predictable, is all I can say. Some players didn't deliver for him, but we've been talking about this already on this forum - this shape has become outdated and the successful teams are moving away from it.
It's embarrassing that we are hoping Italy to do us a favour, we are where we deserve to be, at the bottom of the group. We could save some face by beating Costa Rica (although unlikely judging by previous performances) but the truth is we couldn't beat an average side like Uruguay and we should be going home early. I hope to see some fresh faces against Costa Rica, playing without fear to at least make a statement for the future.
The depressing thing is that Italy probably will win their next two games, but I doubt we can beat Costa Rica!! If I want to be positive though, you could say Rooney was unlucky not to score in the first half, and Godin really should have received a 2nd yellow too no?
I thought about this the other day. People who want to talk about cricket seem to do so on the off-topic chat thread. Tell you what, I'll create an England and Hampshire County Cricket Thread if you want..?
