Sorry mate but that's just nonsense. You were pedaling that line after the Euros the last time and its just not true. The players we're producing here are not up to the standard technically. Its standing out a mile. The only reason they look half decent at Club level is because they're surrounded by foreigners. They don't magically become sh*t when they pull on a white shirt. The problem is much deeper than that.
Uruguay population 3 million and England 56 million. Something is wrong when England don't have a star footballer with a population this size.
Spot on. Defensively very, very poor. I'm sorry to say I'm not surprised though. Most of our players are vastly overrated. They are lacking technically and also in intelligence of play.
After watching that game...and feeling the way I do...there is only one cure. Never get tired of it;
Can we honestly say the likes of Jordan Henderson, Glen Johnson, Lallana are good enough? I don't think they are
England need a psychologist or someone who can banish the fear of failure which hovers over them at major tournaments. For about 40 years now I have been watching England and never have I seen one player who plays better for them than for their club - the difference to e.g. Germany is that their players step up a gear when playing for their country whereas ours go backwards.
Wubba's dead right. The analysis you're being subjected to is very superficial. There's nothing hard-hitting or in-depth about it. I don't know why that is but there's absolutely no point in watching it. Its dirge.
There has always been inadequate mental toughness in the English footballer when it comes to international level. It's a thing you never see in (for example) a German side, where they generally play with a strong resolve and confidence. On top of this, the high proportion of foreign players in the Prem is not only stifling the development of a greater number of young English talent, but it's also assisting the nurturing of foreign players. There's also so much money available to a PL player nowadays that the incentive to play abroad has diminished. Where once the likes of Ince, Lineker, Platt or Gascoigne went to Italy or Spain, they only go now when they're no longer wanted here (Becks or Owen) or for their swan song. The notable exception is unfortunately Welsh.
