He should have taken Carroll if he was only interested in using Lambert as a target man in the dying minutes. Hodgson has no clue.
There you go, Rickie. You can feel suitably cheesed off. I would. Your boss doesn't trust you to do the job over 90 minutes, but he'll throw you on to save the day, when his preferred players have screwed up. I'd tell him what to go and do with his 5 minutes.
Hart - keep Baines - drop Johnson - drop Jagielka - drop Cahill - keep Henderson - drop Gerrard - retire Sterling - keep Welbeck - drop Rooney - keep Sturridge - keep Hodgson - **** off
Nice but the truth is we were undone by shoddy goalkeeping (not for the first time by Mr Seamen in a world cup) lack lustre defending (free kick before half time) and not forgetting a elbow into their goalkeeper by our own Mr Shearer when he should have left said goalkeeper alone to Mr Campbell to score... Heavens - been there so many times - the first recollection I have (at the age of ten) of criticism on football was the substitution of Bobby Charlton when two nil up against Germany in 1970 with Bank out with a stomach bug...
Get rid of Hodgson, Gerrard, Lampard, Johnson, Welbeck, drop Baines to reserve and build the next England team around Shaw, Lallana, Barkley, Sterling, Clyne, Sturridge with a young manager who has the balls to make changes early enough to make an impact.
Henderson would be good next to a defensive midfielder. A player of a de Jong/de Rossi mould. We have few in England. But nouble for west ham does that role effectively but isn't the star player England like to have.
