Definatly, alot point to his goals scoring record at wigan but thats bullshit hes brilliant at making the ball stick in the oppositions half which is what we need, plus his goal scoring record at championship level is pretty good.

I wouldn't mind him but I don't see him as an alternative to Adebola. He's more like an Aaron McLean but a bit bigger (and probably better). He's strong and quick and can get in behind. He's not really a target man.

My only memory of Scotland is he was mastered completely by Zinedine Kilbane when we played Wigan and beat them 2-1. That was probably KK's best game for us.

Targetmen hold the ball up and make it stick, Scotland does this very well, id say he'd make a good targetman, doesnt mean it has to be lumped up to him, nothing wrong with playing it into feet and having him hold it up and have others making runs off him.

i think with Adebola we'd resort to longball at times.

That's the option we might need though. When we were 0-1 down against Millwall last season, we were stroking the ball around defence, back and forward, like Liverpool used too, waiting for an opening, that was great but when there were 5 minutes left and everything we'd done all game had no effect, we needed to get the ball wide and put diagonal balls into the box, have someone get amongst their centre halves and get guys like Fryatt and Koren attacking the second balls.

That wasn't an isolated incident either, it happened in several home games. Scotland is a good striker but he's similar to what we've got, albeit probably a bit stronger. Adebola is completely different.

Yeah i see where your coming from, i tend to disagree about Scotland being similar to what we've got he's quite a physical presence, he holds it up and brings others into play, MClean and Simpson are speed merchants, wereas Fryatt is a good poacher, i think all the previous 3 would work well with Scotland.

Shame we cant sign both as i think theyd both bring something we havnt got to the squad

id have no qualms if Adebola was a last 10 minute thing, where we need to pump it into the danger area to nick something or claw a goal back, but not keen on the idea for 90 minutes thats my only gripe. Whereas i think Scotland could play the majority of the game and fit into a nice passing style of play

    Nearly said the same thing!

I wouldn't worry about NP playing long ball. The fact that signing ball players in midfield and attacking full-back's has been and still is high on his agenda speaks volumes, IMO.

Budget, I guess. We've got 4 strikers (inc Dele), plus Barmby and Stewart. I guess another would be hard to justify when there are holes elsewhere.

I think the chances of Adebola ever playing 90 minutes for us, are just shy of zero.
