Rooney isn't a bad player. He may even be World Class at his very best. But he isn't at his very best when he pulls an England shirt on. In fact, he's well below par. His mindset is just like England players of old. Too much expectation, too much pressure and he can't handle it. That's not his fault. The fault is continuing to play him when it is clear he isn't a game changer. And I type this very much hoping that I'm wrong. Still, for me there's always Italy.
Watched the first half here in Dubai with friends. Now at home and not watching the game. Why not? Sore loser - been a Saints fan all my life so more down than ups! I realised tonight that I (delightfully) have been spoilt over the past few seasons and particularly with Poch. I recognised tonight as an armchair football fan that I read the game so much better now from all the games we have played over under Poch and can see obvious weaknesses in our England team that have not been there with my beloved Saints over the past 18 months. I hope England pull it round but we need Adam to create something special and Ricky to close it out... now I am dreaming - saddest thing is its not going to happen next season for us because one and possibly both will be gone. All said - its great to be a Saints fan.
Hodgson should be sacked if we don't get out of the group. Hasn't got the guts to take off a big name.
