Never known it so pessimistic, people panicking over lack of signings etc Moaning about RD Moaning about a new pitch why FFS that pitch was un playable, i think we were lucky not to get in trouble with the FA, Iâm sure if we had a slightly colder winter we would have been fined Moaning about the new training ground, this is the future the future of our club to help bring through, the Parkers,Poyets,Sollyâs etc Moaning about the new seats, nice stadium why not keep it looking fresh and new, keep on top of the maintenance, then you wonât be in the same place we are with the pitch with it all needing ripping out. OK w all know players are more or less the most important thing, but why slag RD off, people must know work is being done behind the scenes to get people in, it does not happen overnight, RD is a proven business man and proved that at SL. Just chill out and see what the next few weeks hold. I think maybe KM should not have come out and said players will all be signed by the end of June, that gets peopleâs expectations racing, maybe a more cautious approach would have been better, like in a ideal world we would hope to get everything done and dusted by the end of June. Also mentions of what if RD gets bored and sells up, well if he does he does, just by the things listed above he has made us a better prospect for any future buyers. Even more annoying is its not kids its older people of have been through the Selhurst years etc, they should know better, we are know where near the dark place we were in the 80âs.
Count me in on that one With respect, you are missing the point. The identity & DNA of the club are now at risk under RD. The "Network model", whatever that is, will not work for us. Look at the mixed reaction this week to us allegedly spending over one million euros on a striker. People either don't believe it, or see through it. We were in a dark place in the 80s and we are in a dark place now. What is wrong with wanting a British owner for Charlton, and a team made up largely of British players that we have under contract?
Count me in too, nothing to do with new seats, new pitch & training ground(excellent), more to do with replacing JR with Bob, and the fact that Gomez and Poyet seem set to leave for probably combined total of £600,000.
But the squad will be largely British and they are under contract. Pope,Solly, Wiggins, Fox, Holmes-Dennis, Edwards, Cousins,Jackson, Wood, Church, Harriott, Wilson, Pigott, Osborne,Daniels, Sho-Silva. I make that sixteen players. So you have got your wish Vol the majority will be British players. Foreign players we have got now. Nego, Polish Pete, Reza. Even if we brought in a further eight players that were Foreign, the majority would still be British.
Thats not the point dick. The whole Roly model is about flogging on the home grown Academy products to pay for Standard Liege's qualification campaign for the Champions League each season (he is certainly not raising much revenue for it from his other clubs!). He has been caught with his trousers down over Poyet thanks to the idiocy of Slater & Jiminez. How RD's thin lips must foam every day at the thought of a player easily worth £5m at least under contract, who will now **** all over him for a paltry £400k. The Academy guys will slowly be replaced with foreign kack. You are an intelligent bloke dick. Do you really believe that only a week after Chris O'Grady rejected us on the grounds of money, following Hamer and Dervite walking out for identical reasons....RD suddenly paid over a million Euros for a little Angolan/Belgian striker. Did he bollocks ! This is a sign of things to come.
If there is "moaning" I would say this is a prime reason... The January transfer activity was extremely poor, and Roley simply left us worse off player wise... LB, do you honestly think there should be a lot more feel good factor around the forums..? Going by the previous recruitment record, the current squad, the Riga handling , the rookie head coach, players leaving for better contracts, and the uncertainty with current player contracts, I would say feedback is par for the course... We all know players are coming in, but if the quality of recruitment isn't upped considerably then many fans will continue to judge by what we have been served so far... The quality of future signings will in the main be totally unknown to fans, so those trying to put a positive spin on them, are probably the same types who were jumping for joy when we signed Sordell... Most fair minded people will judge players by what they see and that''ll have to be when the season is under way, because how many people are going to know anything about Igor, or whoever else we sign, and whether they'll be able to adapt in our very competitive league..? We got a lot of signings in January, but how many of them featured in the crucial final games...? Be positive by all means, but I judge by what I know & see...
ask on ITTV. the guy who runs that, signs up as a fan/new poster of a team, a player we signed used to play for. he then tells everyone how good they are and at what a bargain we got; all in the name of praising roley and poking the fans in the eye who liked charlton being charlton, and not SL B team.
Some fans put aside judging events as they happen for many reasons/agendas, same thing happened under Murray, and I suspect a certain portion of fans are doing the same now... Some are still being so grateful that Roley sacked Powell, and that made them think their trillion sack the manager threads had some sort of worth...
Nothing wrong with a British owner but are we really in a dark place. I do think we should not be so down on things, a lot of what we know is third hand or idle gossip re Riga and other goings on. Maybe give it a few weeks beofre panicing.
A lot of what we know is more third rate, than third hand... The January transfer activity... Looked like a suicide mission The current squad is not sending out feel good vibes... Riga handling... Is this how Roley is going to reward good work..? Rookie head coach... May turn out fine but there's uncertainty... Let's hope he's not the managerial version of the other super signings Koc, PP & Co. Players leaving for better contracts elsewhere Our own high quality players and their current contracts The uncertainty about future signings I don't think people are judging unfairly or using "third hand or idle gossip"... It's always wait & see with us, and that's where we are, I don't see a lot of evidence that suggests we'll be any wiser in the next few weeks, for the reasons I gave before...
Have to admit that I have grown frustrated with that site. Each to their own I suppose, but it is full of train spotters & Belgian geeks who gulp up each crumb tossed from Roly's table. Not interested.
Fully concur. Also add to that the appalling comms from the Club since the end of the season. The failure to communicate on both Riga & Peeters. And the way that Poyet has been allowed to swing in the wind.
I don't read much social media, the only other forum I read is CL, and I find them surprisingly optimistic about Roland's running of the club. However, this may just be because they hated MS and TJ with a vengeance.
I've found a few of my friends have adopted this point of view, but only for the reason that they have more important things going on then to moan/be pessimistic about the club, and trying to see the good. I do suspect a lot of CL is just brown nosing though...
I do believe that RD wants to grow our Academy. For what reason I do not know yet. Whether it is for the network ie Standard Liege or to sell to Premiership Clubs, I also don't know. I do know that we are trying to lower the wage bill. So Hamer, Dervite etc were never going to get wages that they wanted. Also O Grady's wage demands were much more than we were willing to pay. What we are getting with Igor is a bigger transfer fee but a Lower salary. The problem of getting good Championship players in is that the transfer fees and wages are prohibitive. I have heard some potential good news with Poyet signing a new contract. There is also a chance that O Grady will accept a lower offer. I have also heard that Richard Wood is having a medical at Rotheram.
Nothing wrong with a British owner, but how long were we on the market & how many serious bids from a Brit did we receive, I would guess 0, For all his faults, RD or administration & possible closure, i'll take RD thank you
Rd seriously can't be thinking of running our academy for standards benefit? Can you imagine Parker, Jonjo, Poyet, Cousins leaving us for the Belgium league?
Apparently there was one British consortium whose offer was vetoed by the FA because they insisted on anonymity.
Up S creek without a paddle for me it's a complete shambles from the outside looking in only players from the network are ever goin to sign for us and most of them will be loans . Not happy with what I see.
