Ooh, that's a little harsh. Honestly, I like Ralph. I think he's a really nice bloke. He may yet be a good chairman for Saints, and if he turned down the offer to be a hockey coach again I'd applaud him for it. But if he goes I'll remember him as the nice bloke who did a bike ride for Saints Foundation and obviously put a fair bit of effort into the cause.

Just make Les Reed Chairman? He is basically running the football side of things anyway.

Another football bloke like John Williams wouldn't hurt, though.

If he does go it should save us a bob or two! Never quite understood what his role actually was, thought it was just as an advisor and go between, between Kat and the rest of us? I suppose it's not just another story being made up to destabilise us again?

I can't see a German ice hockey website having any interest in destabilising us and the story doesn't seem to have been reported anywhere else.

I feel the same way. Like you said, he seemed to be useful at the non-sexy side of things.

And maybe it's just me being American but his speech never bothered me. A lot of it was admittedly BS-sy and all, but so is everyone else's. People just like the smell of Reed's BS better. Whatever, I'm sure he's not happy about how he is viewed by supporters and that probably isn't great for the club either so if he moves on it could be a win-win situation. But I think he did his best, and he was never nearly as incompetent as certain people assume.

I do not want to see things just run by Les Reed. I think it's good not to load one person up with too many tasks or to give any one person too much power. It's funny how according to rumors, it's Reed that the players dislike and who possibly has stirred up some bad feelings. But it's Krueger that the fans dislike. Which isn't to blame either of them, but more to say that sometimes you have to be the bad guy to a certain audience. Or you just can't relate to everyone well.

The supporters tend to want heroes and villains. Right now Krueger is the villain and seemingly everyone wants Reed to be the hero. Cortese was somewhat unique in that he enjoyed being both hero AND villain, but still not sure that's healthy for an organization.

Me, I'd rather have a bunch of guys doing their jobs, all pulling together rather than larger-than-life figures.

Absolutely NO. I really like the job Les Reed is doing. Let's not clutter up his day. We need a proper Chairman who is going to oversee the vision, the ambition, the future prospects, plus the day to day running of the club. If that remains as Ralph Krueger then fine. If it is someone else, then let's get someone in who is a class act.

Nah I don't think so. I think there's something in the stories that the players don't like him, let's leave him in his current job.

    Who's that?!

To be fair to Ralph, putting Saints aside, he may find it hard turning down an offer to get back into Ice Hockey anyway. By the looks of things he only lasted a year at the Oliers! He also must have been loving it at the Winter Olympics even though he was behind the scenes, and maybe he would have been looking to go back into management anyway until this latest adventure came along.
I say if we get someone in who is more suited to the job then it will be a good move for both parties.

Just for the record, I agree about having an experienced footballing chairman in charge, but I question the need for another one if Reed is already responsible for transfers, appointing key staff members, contracts, and organising on-pitch matters. At the moment, he appears a sort of combination of both the roles of Chairman and Director of Football. Krueger's brief was obviously to sort out commercial/business things, rather than on-pitch matters.

Possibly strange to say it, but there's a lot more to running a professional football club than just football. :)

Fran will think it's Christmas when she comes backs

I liked Ralph, but you really can't learn on the job at this level and he had no experience of running a business or football. He may have liked to talk but it couldn't of been a pleasant experience conducting interviews and being asked questions he had no idea how to answer. Then he was made to look like an idiot with the whole Lambert transfer.
He has been financially compensated for this role, so I'm not too sympathetic but could lucky Ralphy

Not sure whether he needs to be replaced. Rodgers is CEO, do we have a new FEO yet?

This. I find it amazing that some people think his only role at the club is what they see on you tube. RK is world renowned in developing leaders and a winning mentality. He said at the outset he was not getting involved in the football side of things. He is a Chairman looking after a wide range of departments, one of which is the football playing side. For the same reason it would be a waste of Les Reed's skills to take him out of his current role and make him Chairman. His biggest asset as I saw it was that KL trusted him to watch over day to day matters whislt promoting a strong winning mentality at the same time.

That said, I honestly did not see too much wrong with his interviews. The hockey references were a bit cringeworthy but offered by a man relaxed and confident in a new environment.

He was buggered after Lambert left and the bedwetters all lost it, calling him a liar and everything. Wouldn't surprise me to see him go, our fans are nuts. Shame, but then if we get Williams to come in then I will have been proven correct from way back when Ralphus was appointed.
