Donovan is only saying this so that it'll soften the blow when the USA get smashed by Mexico in the Gold Cup final, with Chicarito scoring an inevitable goal. USA have been absolutely dire in it, so he has to get his excuses in quickly.
He is just saying that because he knows his team is gonna get owned by him. Rooney is better than Chicharito at the moment and I would say Berba probably is to. There is no reason why he can't be the best striker in the world in a few seasons though.
Arshavin has 10 goals and 16 assists... If thats awful, then he must be F*cking amazing when hes doing 'ok'.
As good as his record is Arshavin has been largely terrible this year. That said anyone who says he is awful is an idiot.
Auld young Hernandez has had a great start, no denying that, kinda trailed of at the end of the season as he became known and got a little tired, I reckon he had a shock of sorts getting to grips with the physical aspects of this league. But there is no doubt he has talent. When he gets the core strenght up, not become a muscle man! as has been stupidly assumed when that is mentioned, he will be better again. The media are full of nobodies saying Nothing about this player or that, pointless drivel, we can see for ourselves how well he has done and also ye lot know exactly his form, so I don't get the DM article at all, usual tripe, as he has probably watched less of Hernandez than the average United supporter, but they do like the sound of their own voices. Looking forward to a lot of new players in the prem this season promising a lot and will they deliver
In the running for top scorer next season? He is currently 9-1 joint 2nd favourite with Torres and van Persie. With Tevez and Rooney both favourites. What do people think? Will be score more than the 13 he scored last season? And will he score more than the 21 goals that won Tevez and Berbatov the Golden Boot last season? I think he will score more goals this season than last but in all honesty I can see all 4 of the players still scoring more than him. I guess it depends on injuries and whatnot. Will be very interesting next season. Will Carroll be in the running aswell?? This is without mentioning Bent, Drogba and Suarez.
Wow that was a good post and not an illustration the idiot thing people were talking about on the other post
I can be as unreasonable as teh next man Carroll for me has a lot to prove about professionalism. I don't doubt he can be a nightmare for CBs can shoot from range head and battle, can he keep fit, can he keep his cool can he provide the goods when the chips are down, those are the questions that can be answered only by time Suarez has proven for me he can go anywhere and contribute, I think he is a player any team can use such is his versatility up front. He will do well, how well is up to him. I think this will be a bigger learning season for Hernandez than the last.
Hit the nail right on the head there. Donovan made a fairly run of the mill comment about Hernandez being on top form right now. But then given that he's the top scorer in the Gold Cup by some way, he's the hottest striker in the world right now based on the fact that most of them are on holiday! The Daily Mail just wants to flog a few more papers based on the fact that a PL player is in an international competition... The golden boot is always a nightmare to predict prior to August. After last season you'd have put Drogba and Rooney as the favourites for this year's GB, but they both ended up barely breaking double figures. And I think Ronaldo was odds on favourite at one point for the GB in 08/09, only to miss out to Anelka. Basically any top striker, or even a decent striker playing regularly for a top club, is a reasonable shout for the GB next year, it all depends on form. True. He wouldn't be the first overseas (or even home grown) player to have an outstanding first season and then struggle next year. The same could be said for Suarez, Smalling, Wilshere, David Luiz and any number of others. Now the rest of the PL is more aware of them and how they play, they will be better able to adapt to them and next season will definitely be tougher.
