Levy isn't an idiot. He is a smart business man and a clever man (in his field) if anyone calls him an idiot its because we let our passion for the club run high and as such you end up calling people "idiots" "morons" because you feel they have let you down, especially when they have the power (or ability) to perform much better and that goes for chairman (and manager). Just I would say its naive (not pointing the finger), but its a general view, that its naive to expect us to achieve our targets with such a high level of potential as by the time these players reach there potential (if they ever do) other teams around us are moving on. This is why we have to sign players of experience to balance out the potential and currently I feel the squad is lacking and in many ways if Levy has called this wrong (spending the Bale money & bringing in Pochettino) then even you will have to accept he has to take the blame.
The two biggest problems we had last year IMO was that we had too many players of similar ability to work out a starting lineup easily, which needs to happen before gelling can take place, and AVB was very unsuited to handling the half-new squad problem.
Levy is not an idiot but a calculating cold businessman , Nobody has said the squad is rubbish but it's not that good either . From being a team/squad 2 quality (not prospects or frees ) players away from challenging from the title a couple of years ago to a bunch of mediocrity with the hope that the prospects will come good. No doubt they will then be sold. Levy if was serious about moving forward would have appointed a LVG type. The problem is they never come as he wont give them a platform to succeed. The other issue is how quality players attitude to joining Spurs comes across. Usually their worst nightmare. Well run business or well run successful football club, in Levy's book they don't run together .
Its true that we had three players well above our usual class in King, Modric and Bale, which made a massive difference but I think the rest of the squad is a bit better now than what it was. I agree on Levy, but I think that success on the field is essential to making Spurs a successful business so he is after the same outcome as we are. ENIC are slightly over-cautious in investment but I prefer that to wild over-spending which is likely to end in tears.
Tottenham line up shock £3m bid for John O'Shea of Sunderland Spurs keen to find a new centre-back with captain Michael Dawson free to leave this summer, and John O'Shea appeals as someone who can go straight into the team Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a shock cut-price bid for Sunderland central defender John O’Shea. With captain Michael Dawson free to leave White Hart Lane this summer, Spurs are looking for a new centre back who could slot straight into the first team. O’Shea only has a year remaining on his Sunderland contract and Tottenham are ready to test the Black Cats’ resolve to keep the 33-year-old with a bid of around £3million. Sunderland have had a £4m offer for Swansea defender Ashley Williams rejected and must now decide whether to go back with an improved bid. Despite fighting relegation and falling out with former manager Paolo Di Canio, O’Shea was one of Sunderland’s best players over the second half of last season. Haway lads, fight for this deal, you know you want him, he's ****ing mint, he deserves to play for a bigger club, just get it done, please, PLEEEASE! Swap for Dawson?
What a ludicrous story. I can't believe that some prick got paid to write that. The most laughable bit is either the suggestion that there's about £1m difference between O'****e and Williams or that we'd sell Dawson and buy someone who's older, paid more and worse. We've made some questionable transfers over the years, but this one would be an insult. It's from the Telegraph, if anyone's wondering. They must do great liquid lunches there.
It is absolutely hilarious like. He is ****ing pony that lad. £3million quid? You'd want 3 million O'****'s for that.
I wish I had such a wonderful imagination mate! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...hock-3m-bid-for-John-OShea-of-Sunderland.html
It's from Matt Law of the Telegraph and the Metro have decided that it's so funny, that they'd run a response to it. To paraphrase The Prodigy, **** 'em and Matt Law.
QPR will probably buy him for about £8m, I think. Might get them back up to £10m like last season or include him on some sort of deal for Remy, though. You can have Rose back for about £12m, though...
QPR bid £9m for him the last time that they were in the top flight, but he turned the move down. He's a little older, but we've got to account for inflation... You might get him on loan again for that. Maybe.
The transfer gossip is usually 100% WRONG we are in fact going to sell Dawson and sign Robben as a replacement defender (he's getting on a bit). LVG has agreed to sell us RVP as compensation for going to United instead of his boyhood club.
Can't help but notice the rumours aren't adding up: Selling Ade to buy Lukaku Selling Soldado in a cash + player deal for Alberto Moreno We'll have the grand total of two strikers next season if that's the case!
