Leckie diving ****, hope de Jong stamps on his knee and shatters it beyond repair. It would be well deserved.
Fantastic game, imo game of the WC so far. The Aussies deserved something from it imo. But that pretty much confirms Netherlands' progress to the last 16.
I think Holland vs Spain, England vs Italy and Germany vs Portugal were all better games to be honest. Best game so far, I'm not sure, but not this one today.
Holland - Spain and Germany - Portugal were way too one sided to be good games. England - Italy was a good game, but not as good as that one. My top 3 games have been Holland-Australia, Switzerland-Ecuador and Uruguay-Costa Rica.
The greatest game I've ever seen involved the Netherlands, and also ended 3-2: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/euro_2004/3787537.stm
One sided games can be good to, especially when both are world class teams. I completely disagree that a game has to be close to be good.
Having watched the highlights, I thought the Robben goal was really good although obviously overshadowed by Marco van Cahill's volley.
Finally got to see the goals from this one. What a bloody awful penalty decision by the ref. Not a bad effort from Cahill's weaker foot, though.
Yes, Australia can consider themselves very unlucky in this "Group of Death" but all credit to the lads who gave it their all under team Coach Angelos Postecoglou who has certainly given the lads a sense of belief in themselves. This bloke took Brisbane roar to a 36 game unbeaten run and two Australian A League titles and has proven his worth. I believe he has had offers from overseas. Cahill's goal was a cracker but the Dutch are a class act when they get it together. The big surprise has been Spain who have been eliminated so the last game between them and the 'socceroo's' will mean there is nothing but pride to play for. Well done Ange and the entire team.
Agree wholeheartedly. Australia in the past week has won a World Cup and finished runner-up in another so appropriate another country should win this one.
