Formula E has announced details of the pre-season testing programme for its inaugural championship. The new FIA all-electric single-seater has chosen Donington Park for its base, and will hold five days of running at the British track before its maiden races in Beijing in September. The opening test will take place on July 3-4, with subsequent running on July 9-10 and August 19. Private testing will be banned in the series, but two more in-season tests will be scheduled during the championship. All the Donington tests will be open to the public free of charge. May have a look if I'm around
Time for a second inspiring track, Malaysia! please log in to view this image At 1.59miles (2.56km) and featuring 12 turns, the street circuit is located near the Perdana Putra housing the Prime Minister’s Office, using much of the main high street and passing several of the city’s most recognisable buildings such as the Ministry of Finance. It also encompasses the beautiful Seri Wawasan Bridge and Putra Mosque. It will see drivers tackle a mixture of straights, slow to medium speed corners, a hairpin plus a tight first-corner chicane providing good overtaking opportunities. Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “We’re delighted to be unveiling the layout for the Formula E Putrajaya ePrix today. Six months from now, 20 drivers in state-of-the-art electric race cars will be battling it out on the streets of Putrajaya and I for one can’t wait. My thanks go to all those involved for creating this fantastic circuit and of course to our Malaysian partner and their team for their continued support and commitment to promoting sustainable mobility.”
Dario Franchitti has been announced as part of the Formula E commentary team. Does this mean that ITV, etc aren't going to use their own commentary teams, reporters etc, and just show a standard feed from FEM? (Or whatever their FOM equivalent is...) ITV have started showing ads for the series, which is exciting. Also, Drayson Racing have pulled out, but immediately been replaced by TrulliGP, which will be owned and driven by Giancarlo Fisichella. I'm kidding, it's Jarno's outfit.
Jarno Trulli has also announced he will be driving for his own team. So presumably he will do one flat out lap then run out of battery.........
How many Horsepower do the Electric motors put out? I read that the electric motor in the Hybrid Toyota TS040 put out about 450-500BHP, so i'd assume a formula E car would be even higher?
Spec appears to be 180 KW to begin with, which is only 245bhp or so. 220 km/hr top speed, 0-100kmph in 3 seconds apparently.
