28°C is fine, you can still do things at that temperature. When it goes up above 30°C it becomes time to come into the cool of the house. With thick stone walls the temperature stays fairly constant, but you frequently see shutters pulled across windows during the daytime to keep the sun at bay. During the winter though if you leave the house unheated for several weeks it can take several days to get the heat back into the walls.

Talking of heating, our Minister for energy has stated today that the 5% increase in cost planned by EDF to come in in August has been banned. Just like the UK we have seen steep increases in the price of electricity over the past few years, and this will be appreciated by many ex-pats who have not seen their income rise at a similar rate.

    Beautiful morning here.

Saw Hampshire win by 470 runs earlier in the week. Hope England can be equally dominant:emoticon-0157-sun:

Uruguay aren't that bad - and I can't see England scoring 5 goals, never mind the five goals a minute it would take to emulate that.... <whistle>

Morning all from a cloudless, warm, beautiful morning here. There is a gentle breeze that should help to keep the day workable. Rather neglected my civic grass cutting duties lately, so think I should start with that today.

Good to see that the Peace Hospice has received £7,700 from the "no-show" scheme. Community things like this could have disappeared, but glad the Pozzos see the value of being part of the local scene.

Morning all from an overcast but fairly warm Bandit Country. 2 visits to the sawbones today - first visit was to get a Typhoid jab in prep for our jolidays. Appointment was for 08.20 and got seen at 08.50, no wonder at the end of the day they are hours behind. Next appointment is to look at this cough that has plagued me for a couple of months!

Very sad to see the passing of Gerry Goffin who passed yesterday - with and without Carole King, wrote some of the best pop songs through the 60's and 70's. I challenge anyone to not have a smile on their face as they read through a list of the great songs he brought to life - not a bad legacy to have.
