All live football folk do that...usually cos they're getting instructions in their earpiece or from behind the camera along the lines of 'keep it going for 15 more secs, clip not cued up yet. 45 secs to commercial break' etc
I'm afraid Chiles takes it to extremes. I actually think he's in the wrong job. The only time he doesn't stammer is when he makes a series of hysterical remarks, to the puzzlement of his guests. Honestly think his stop/start, stammering presentation is way beyond that of anyone else on TV. Think it makes him very hard to watch.
Chiles was right. Muller caused the situation to arise by blatant playacting. Chiles was not defending Pepe - he foolishly reacted and deserved a red card. But Chiles' point was that if Muller hadn't cheated Pepe wouldn't have been sent off. A retrospective three match ban for Muller wouldn't go amiss
chiles is okay. he's another fan of a mediocre team, like us, and knows what's what. muller was cheating. he fouled the defender, not the other way round. the defender should have kicked his head clean off his shoulders. i would have TOTALLY condoned that.
I have posted this on the match thread: I don't know how many paid more attention to the victims theatrical antics or the foul itself. There was more of a dig than the usual passing touch; I would certainly say more contact than in the so-called headbutt. The red card was deserved, the theatrical antics inevitable, if they are for nothing then the ref can and does deal with that as well. Does this bring back an argument for a Sin Bin?
Not read the replies but I think it's just people disagreeing with chiles for the sake of it. If chiles says it it must be wrong, those sort of sheep who don't really know what they're on about. There was a lad banging on about how much he hates him when I was out for the England match t'other night. I asked what exactly he dislikes about chiles so much and he couldn't actually tell me a single reason. Just "uhh uhh, he's just clueless, err he's just a twat, he hasn't got a clue" I believe it's those types.
They were harsh but correct on 'Lawro' being in the comfort zone, but oh so wrong about Savvidge having any semblance of anything resembling an insight.
I didn't mind his commentary last night on the Spain game, but he is as cuplable as the rest with regards to play acting and simulation. Stating that it was a "good foul" like he did last night just highlights how professional players think.
Surely that's what we want isn't it? An insight into how the players are thinking.....and how they see the game.
