Sow is an out and out striker mate, Johnson is a winger.

The attachment referred to his main position as Left Wing. And with rumours of interest in AJ, I just put 2 and 2 together...

But AJ plays on the right, Sow is right footed, I think.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is ready to grab Hamburg number one Rene Adler - the keeper given a World Cup snub by Germany, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

Poyet wants to do a deal at around £2.5 million for the experienced shot stopper who helped his club beat the drop in a relegation play-off.

Ambitious Poyet is looking for a new keeper to battle with Veto Mannone for the jersey and Adler will hope he is coming to start.

The Black Cats have been chasing a new keeper since Poyet arrived and reliable Adler looks like being the answer.

However Sunderland will demand a full medical as Adler ended the campaign with a knee injury picked up in the final game.

Adler was due to fly in for talks last week but discovered he had damaged knee ligaments - a problem that will be assessed fully shortly.

Sunderland may go for Manchester City's giant Costel Pantilimon if there is a long-term snag with Adler.

A grand total of zero new names added to the list this week. So our running total remains at a still impressive 36.

The big news this week is one that had been expected for some time, with Jack Colback's move to Newcastle United on a free transfer being confirmed.

Sunderland were none too happy about their academy graduate moving on for free when they were led to believe the financial terms they had offered were acceptable to the player and had been assured that talks would resume once the team's Premier League survival had been assured. That didn't happen with the player refusing to speak to the club once the season ended but that was not the end of the drama, with Colback attempting to engineer a move to West Ham United after already agreeing a move to his 'boyhood heroes'.

Mike Ashley reportedly blocked that move but did give West Ham a chance to buy the player for £5m, a move the London club wisely rejected considering Colback was available on a free. Considering the midfielder was given a reported six-year, £50,000 per week deal, Sunderland should consider this a lucky escape as although the player was a useful member of the squad, he is in no way worth such a financial outlay, particularly as the club would have been looking to improve the midfield even if he had stayed.

Swansea have rejected Sunderland's initial £4m offerfor their captain Ashley Williams. The 29-year-old is currently in contract negotiations with the Welsh club and Sunderland are hoping to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding his future by tempting him to the Stadium of Light, with reports suggesting we may return with an improved £6m offer.

Williams' agent Jamie Moralee says his client does want to stay at Swansea but made it clear that he is unhappy about being in a situation where his future is unclear. It looks like this transfer will run and run, with Moralee trying to get the best deal for his client, whether at Sunderland, Swansea or elsewhere, it could be a long game of cat and mouse as the defender's future is sorted one way or the other.

Sunderland will have to continue in their hunt for senior competition to first choice number one Vito Mannone, with Julian Speroni signing a new one-year deal at Crystal Palace.

Nacho Scocco still looks likely to leave the club, if any Argentinian club can match the £3.2m Sunderland paid for the striker. Boca Juniors are expected to make an imminent offer for Scocco but with the player favouring a return to Newell's and the club hoping to raise the funds to sign the 29-year-old, Boca may have a struggle on their hands to complete a potential deal.

West Ham have had a loan offer for Marcos Alonso rejected by Fiorentina, the Italian side want to take a look a the player during pre-season to see if he has improved after his successful spell at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland remain very keep to bring the popular Spaniard back to Wearside but unless they make the Serie A side an offer they cannot reject they may now have to wait until later in the transfer window.

Talk of interest in Bafetimbi Gomies and Moussa Sow appears to be unfounded, with the club not interested in Gomis, whose wage demands are astronomical, and Sow being subject of a megabucks offer from Qatari side Al Rayyan, which the player has understandably accepted with the transfer fee appearing to be the only sticking point.

Finally the club are keen to avoid recent mistakes by tying down Mannone and Connor Wickham to new deals, as they look to ensure both players remain a part of the club's long term plans. Mannone became an increasingly popular and assured figure in the Sunderland goal after taking over from Keiren Westwood during the first half of last season and Wickham finally showed why the club paid so much money for him as a 17-year-old as his goals sparked the great escape.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez could be set to switch his focus from Liverpool’s Pepe Reina to Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone, CaughtOffside understands.

The Italian giants are in the hunt for a new signing between the sticks this summer after taking Reds shot-stopper Reina on loan for the 2013/14 season, though recent reports suggest that the club will not be taking up the option to sign the 31-year-old permanently, as he is too expensive.

Reina looks unlikely to become first choice for Liverpool again after the Merseyside giants signed Simon Mignolet last summer, but he could still have an offer from Barcelona this summer as they eye a new backup keeper.

Napoli, meanwhile, remain keen on bringing someone in and will now look to former Arsenal ace Mannone as their number one target in that position, after the Italian impressed in his first season with the Black Cats this term.

The 26-year-old had largely been a backup player during his time at the Emirates Stadium, but made the decision to quit the club in order to play regular first-team football, and he has certainly grabbed the opportunity with both hands at the Stadium of Light.

Mannone played a key role in Sunderland’s successful fight against relegation, and also shone in the Capital One Cup as Gus Poyet’s side reached the final of the competition by beating Manchester United over two legs in the semi-finals.

Inter Milan have also looked at signing the player in recent months as they also consider making a new signing in goal, but Napoli now appear to be his main suitors this summer.

Sunderland will be understandably keen not to let such an important player leave this summer as they hope to improve for next season, but their struggles in the Premier League could mean a number of their stars will be keen to move on.

Winger Adam Johnson already looks like making an exit as he looks set to join Everton on loan, while Mannone will no doubt be tempted by the prospect of playing Champions League football at the Stadio San Paolo next year after Benitez guided the club to third place in Serie A.

In a further blow to Sunderland, it could be that Mannone’s previous club Arsenal will receive a decent chunk of any transfer fee that the Naples outfit pay to sign the shot-stopper.

Sky Sports understands a number of Premier League and Championship clubs are tracking Costa Rica international Yeltsin Tejeda. The likes of of Sunderland, Everton, Derby, Brighton and Fulham are all thought to be keeping tabs on Saprissa's highly-rated defensive midfielder.

    ????????

Sky Sports understands Leeds United have rejected Fulham's £5million bid for Ross McCormack. West Ham, QPR, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Derby and Norwich are also believed to be closely monitoring the Scotland international.

Tom Ince linked with SAFC again. Was on the radar in January, but looked as if he would join Monaco this summer ‪#‎safc‬
