Would you like to talk me through how you linked having a respect for the elderly to being 'work-shy alcoholics who run away at the first sign of trouble'?

That is so wrong. The Irish didn't run away, they were just too scared to join in the first place.

The italians didn't run away either, they just swapped sides to suit themselves. Genious if you ask me.

They should be respected. They have worked hard all their lives and now that they are older they are entitled to enjoy retirement and share their stories with the younger generations.

Many of them haven't worked all their lives. Lazy, alcoholic wasters grow old too. So how can you just presume that all old people are hard-working pillars of the community? Maybe I'm cynical, but I tend to presume the worst <ok>

The Irish state was not even 20 years out of 700 years of British misrule. What reason do you give for them then joining with the British to fight against a country that Ireland had no quarrel with? The rest of your post is also littered with historical inaccuracies. Are you a professional moron?

OK, explain to me how the Church of England are 'almost half catholic'. Can you not construct a sentence without cursing?

Well this is the biggest load of bollocks I have ever read. I can't comment on Italians because I don't know any but as I have said the elderly have worked all their lives and contributed to society so at the very least society owes them a bit of respect. And the Irish are not workshy by and large, all of my friends, family and aquaintences all work damn hard for everything they have.

FFS, you're the guy sitting in the pub at the end of the bar on his own aren't you?

And yes, I am officially the only employed "moron" in the UK.

I agree, and I think the good ones deserve to be looked after. But to say "ALL" old people deserve it is like saying "ALL people deserve invalidity benefits".
