That time of year again when the music festivals start piling up. I'm a music festival virgin and shall remain so as I just don't get the appeal of tossing around in a big field along with thousands of sweaty geeks. Much prefer indoor smaller venues where you can actually see the band without the aid of a video screen. Each to their own though. I suppose the closest to a festival I got was David Bowie at Roker Park in 1987 and he was utter pish. In fact the support band Big Country were far better. Not a festival though but it was outside. The bus journey was a nightmare. Oh well at least I managed to see The Thin White Prince once in ma puff even though it was dire.
I agree ER - hate festivals. Been to a couple of outdoor concerts over the years and, aside from Madness in Finsbury Park which was just a tipsy singalong for 25,000 people, they've all been cack. Gigs have never been the same since they banned smoking either - nothing like a foggy smokiness hanging in the air to add a bit of atmosphere to proceedings. I think they should bring it back. Btw - Roddy frame is playing Aberdeen in December.
Really? Where about? The Lemon Tree. I'll go to that as long as I'm still alive that is. Smoking ban I agreed with even though I'm a smoker. The only problem now is when you go to the pub all you can smell is stale beer, pish, BO and farts.
Not really Venom. I never went to them when I was in my teens or twenties or 30's which you have finally managed to reach somehow.
1 December at the Aberdeen Music Hall. I agree with the ban really but gigs are about the only time i wish it had not been brought in.
used to go to T in the park every year but it's ****ing piss take nowadays. could got on holiday for a week with the money you spend. I spent £850 2 years ago
The Music Hall is a cracking place for a gig. Definitely going!! Walk Out To Winter....................
Money grabbing arseholes and Aberdeen is one of the worst. The Scottish Open is up here soon. For a 4 night stay at the top hotel it would normally be £520. During the Open they are charging £1000. Money grabbing arseholes. There is an annual event for Oil and Gas which up until now was held in Aberdeen but because of the thieving hoteliers in this ****in city they are now relocating to Glasgow. Good on them I say. This city is a ****in rip off full stop. In fact I have now started applying for jobs abroad. Kuwait and Malaysia are the first two.
I use to like them but can't be arsed with hassle of travelling,2/3 hours trying to get home unless someone lays on a helicopter for me but I'll be going to Massive Attack because it's only a short walk for me please log in to view this image
Never really fancied the Festival scene, up to your knees in mud, thousands of complete arseholes waving flags on 20 foot poles and having to queue for a ****e. No thanks, i'll stick to smaller venues where I don't have to leave my possessions in a scabby tent.
Went to a few free festivals in the 70s; Stonehenge, Devil's Dyke etc. Sitting around in a field smoking Red Leb and waiting to see who turned up first, Hawkwind or the Old Bill. Then after Punk arrived I hid the Planet Gong albums under the bed and denied ever having had long hair, so festivals were out really (apart from sneaking off to see Led Zep at Knebworth).
Been to a couple of festivals. Not ma thing, man. Ye canny get a proper ****e, ye canny get a proper wash, and yer kippin in a ****in tent. **** that. I like my comforts far too much.
