Beats me how a player as good as Barnes can talk utter crap all the time.

 

No we're not, we are in a strong position and should rightly expect to get what we value him at. Holding them to ransom is obviously a figure of speech that i think is quite apt. My comment above was just trying align the situation with the dictionary definition of ransom, in order to answer PTF's question.

Liverpool fans are very divided over Lallana now. I think he could well live to regret the move (if he actually ever goes)

 

As I've said somewhere on this board, I've always thought it unlikely this will happen.

Great to see such a well-supported board, by the way. Far busier than the wilderness that is the man utd board

 

If the Liverpool fans are basing their views on his England performances playing out of position and playing a different system to Saints they are making a mistake.
However, it's probably the difference where The Southampton Way uses him as the focus of everything whereas England and probably Liverpool he will play a secondary or supportive role to superior players
Not sure I would be happy paying £30m for a bench warmer or support player to their stars!

I am actually at the stage where I am not fussed if Lallana goes. I would happily take the £25million for him. If all this is true and he has asked to leave I think his ego has become to big.

Well he actually hasn't handed in a transfer request. He's just stated he wants to go.

 

Unfortunately for Adam, that puts him in a terrible bargaining position.

I just hope our board stay strong here. He is our captain, we need to keep him.

 

No we don't. Think Morgan/Lovren(if stays) should be our captain. Adam only got it off Adkins for his loyalty for the club. Its only been this last season, he has shown any form of captaincy on the pitch.
