Like I have said on this thread, it was the only chance we got to see of him, I watched him preseason at Northampton, looked OK and used his VOICE!. One mistake does not make him a bad keeper! How many points did we lose/drop through SL?
Ok I think I have made it clear that I feel Loach is potentially a world class keeper but I think that Gilmartin needs a defence here, it is hard for a keeper that every week sits on the bench to be thrown in the deep end therefore I think if he was given games week in week out then the mistakes would stop. and Hornetal people only remember the mistakes SL made, how many points did he save us this season with save after save
There was a time when I was at Uni I did door to door Watford to cardiff averaging three figures, those were the days.......actually it was croxley to halls just of the M4...
i saw him in a couple of pre season games last season and was really worried...i'm sure he has to be better now..but he's nowhere near Loach i don't think...
Would like to see him have a few games to see what he is like, under pressure we all know what SL is like and perhaps RG could have a couple of the preseason games to give us an idea! That is id SL is still here of course
I'm sure SD will give him at least a half, that what usually happens in the pre-season. Each GK gets half a match, and if we have enough players, the rest of the squad swap too lol...not likely but we live in hope that we could make up two teams! lol
I am sure that SD is all over it, the work is being done behind the scenes. I don't think we ever have been an in your face aggresive chaser of players?
Gilmartin seemed solid in a pre-season game against Stevenage last year. Made two or three very good saves and was very vocal the entire time he was between the sticks. Admittedly one game doesn't prove much in the long term but I would like to see more of him.
I saw him at the St.Albans pre-season last year and he did look good, but I think we can all remember his display against brighton in the cup
I believe that keeping Loach for an extra year makes sense, financially and football wise. Barring a disastrous season he'll be worth a similar amount next summer, but the difference is that we wouldn't be under pressure to spend as much of it. Give Bond and Bonham one more year, and one of them should be ready to take an opportunity in 2012/13, if the guy(s) ahead of them let them in. Having Gilmartin and someone else with a similar background would be considerably less of a gamble in 12 months than it would be now.
