Another Moderator

Guys, I'm going to withdraw my interest in the post this time around (maybe apply again in the future?). It looks like we have two very strong candidates who are willing to do the job in Norway & Hornette and I would prefer not to be involved in a vote, really don't want the humiliation of getting nil points!

reading the job spec...sounds fair.

I'm around when i can be, and that can be a lot, or not so much depending on my work load, but usually a good few hours a day i can dip in and out, and most of the night til i wend my weary way to bed.

It'd be good to have another two, just to be a soundboard as well as everything else.

Lots of good peeps interested ...we'll be a fab board with any of them as a mod

OK – we are near the end of the time I proposed for this. If anyone wants to come late to the party please shout soon.

This is how we stand. Six names were suggested: Norway, Hornette, Ak, OFH, Bucks and BHD. ( I don’t think SLB or Yorkie put their names forward but correct me if I am wrong).

Ak and OFH declined.. Bucks offered to withdraw but I will come back to that.

We need to come to a decision and one thing I would like to avoid is the point Bucks (possibly tongue in cheek) made about a vote could humiliate someone. It is certainly possible that less well known posters could lose out in a vote for that reason alone and not because they were poor candidates.. SLB also made a good point

My proposal is that we have two new Mods and that one is either Hornette or Norway – both are excellent candidates and both do “unsocial” hours“ which would help me a lot. The other would be Bucks or BHD – to introduce SLB’s “new blood” and both also appear to be excellent candidates.

I would suggest that via the Private Message system the two pairs contact their other half and see if they can agree which of them should go forward. If that works we would have 2 names and I would start a thread to put the names to the fan-base at large to see if they support the proposal

THIS IS ONLY A SUGGESTION OF MINE AND IS NOT A “FAIT ACCOMPLI” but I think it would produce an excellent “mix” of Mods

Does this have your support – in particular the support of the 4.

Works for me and I believe that NEW blood is essential! We have a thriving site with many people contributing valid points!

 

Was my idea with SLB about new blood Leo ! SLB came out with the cliquey observation !
I also as previously stated think that new blood is required ! Having mentioned Salibury Kev and bhd , I think maybe Al should be considered!

 

I am happy for it to go to a vote if need be, but i am also happy to follow your structure Leo. I am also happy for Norway and Hornette to take it if need be. I can say i have ever felt any hint of an 'old boys club' on here and im sure no one else will have, whilst we have a number of regulars they never control the rest and we all get equal chance to voice our opinions.

Very good of you BHD but I would appreciate it if you could have a word with Bucks to get his view. A lot of us feel the New Blood would be most helpful and both you and Bucks are more recent starters on here - I know Bucks was active on 606 - not sure about you but each of you would be very good Mods.

I know Bucks has already offered to sand down once but have a word anyway and let's see what he thinks

 

I do think this is a fairer way to decide this. It will give us a well known mod and also an up and coming. My only concern is, what if for instance, me and BHD can't agree who should go forward for it?

I must also say that I'm a little nervous with being pitted against a marshal artist!

 

Have a word with BHD on the PMs - I have PM'd both of you anyway. Then you can PM me how you are getting along and if between you you need help or advice I will try to give it

Thanks for the vote of confidence Norway, but there are times when I am at work when I just do not get the time necessary to give to the Board! I think the candidates H, BH, BHD and your good self are far stronger candidates for the position of MOD.

Not averse to the odd night shift myself ! Be careful ,watchout for humans with those damned crosses

 

It is OK we are in a controlled environment, besides that we are the only peeps there at Abbey Wood, not many, if any MOD Civvies work nights at ABW!
