I'm sure the topic of who will be no.1 will come up time and time again over the summer, and personally I'm not bothered, as the club's staff will be able to make a far better informed decision than I could ever guess at. However some 'new information' has come to light from newcastle-mad, here's what they have to say:

really? quoted? perhaps you could provide said quotes then? It annoys me the amount of speculation that is presented as fact without backing it up, and even by our own fan sites these days (special mention to nufcblog.com who have said that just about everyone at the club is due to leave over the last couple of days)

I've heard this a couple of times before. If its true i cant really see any benefit in not starting him. i feel sorry for Harper and he does deserve another season but it may not be

Think we need Harpers experience for the start of the season, he still gives the back a more solid look and feel in my opinion .. would be very dissapointed if Krul threw his toys out of the pram and sulked because he wasn't playing every match .. would be even more dissapointed if Pardew played him just because he said he'd leave if he didn't (which I doubt he would have said, possibly something lost in translation?) .. what's best for NUFC .. not what's best for Tim Krul (or any other player come to that <ahem> Nolan)

I'd say that's most likely what happened, a well meaning journalist accidentally misinterpreted Krul's comments totally by accident. That is if he even said anything in the first place, since newcastleunited-mad.co.uk were nice enough not to bother linking to a source.

Articles from that site are normally ****, so I never bother to read them anymore.

This was mentioned a few weeks back I think and still nothing has ever been found in relation to the source of these quotes in the Dutch press.
