    Centre mid. <ok>
Will good to be able to rotate. Think Barton will go if Matuidi comes in. Good or bad thing I'm not sure.

I've made a promise to myself not to make any formation porn untill the start of the season but i have to say i would like to play 4-3-3 with the players we've currently got and if we get him.

Has anyone watched him enough to say how good he is. I've only heard of him so i could do with people filling me in

Well, from a chant perspective, his name is certainly a shoo-in for the Rocky Horror Show classic tune by Meatloaf 'Hot Patootie' .. eh .. eh .. oh come on, it's been a slow day ..

I agree, I'd lean towards it being a bad thing since Barton was a big influence last season and we'd probably miss that. With Matudi being a bit of an unknown it could go either way, but 'better the devil you know' and all that

Matuidis a great player but him and Tiote are too alike, whereas Cabaye the box to box playmaker and Tiote the destroyer will compliment each other, I just can't see us spending £12m on Matuidi to be part of a rotational system.

    Matuidi Tiote
Guti Cabaye Ben Arfa(rotate with Cabaye if needed)

  8. We don't need Matuidi, but if we did get him, he'd be a replacement for Tiote, not Barton. Matuidi is a defensive mid, Barton is currently our most creative midfielder, until proven otherwise.

I think Matuidi is more of a deep lying playmaker than a out and out defensive midfielder, so probably would be more of a replacement for Barton.

He certainly wouldn't be a replacement for Tiote, I assume either they'd both play infront of the back four like was suggested earlier, or used in squad rotation.
Depth to the squad is never a bad thing, and with Tiote away for the ACoN and the amount of suspensions he gets we need strength in that area.

For you that dont know him he is nothing like tiote, just becuase he plays in the same position doesnt mean he is the same sort of player.
he is a similar sort of player to alex song in my opinion, unlike tiote who doesnt like to pass forward too much.

  14. I'm not saying if we buy him he'd replace Tiote, and i'm not saying we couldn't play them together, that wasn't my point. My point was, he's not really going to replace Barton because they're different types of players.

If we did really want to buy him, it would be in the situation where Fat bastard accepted a bid for Tiote, and Tiote wanted to leave, or he'd be bought as cover for him.

He could take Barton's place on the team maybe, if Barton left, but he doesn't offer the same thing Barton does.

Man City played a 4-2-3-1 last season, incorporating 2 holding midfielders. This system would allow both Matuidi and Tiote to play and would allow our more creative players to get forward.

next season we are going to be a very attack minded team.. 2 DM would suit us fine.

Also so what if barton goes... fair enough hes been great this season.. but can you see any of the top 5 knocking on his door... reality is they are better players out there... if him being replaced makes us better then whats the problem... not much room for sentiment these days

Actually your exact words were "he'd be a replacement for Tiote" so you've completely contradicted yourself there.

    Chiek Tiote = Claude Makelele
    Blaise Matuidi = Patrick Viera
    Yohan Cabaye = Emmanuel Petit
