You seem to have mixed up fans of football clubs and fans of football nations matth.

I think you'll find that that the vast majority of English people in Manchester and Liverpool support England in major tournaments like the Euro's or the World Cup.

Only complete imbeciles would think otherwise, so,what do you think matth?

I would take a wild guess that the majority of English Liverpool fans also support England as their national team.

I support England regardless. My only gripe is when England fans skew their support or criticism of players based on club loyalty. I will support anyone in an England shirt or criticise them. I do feel some England players will get berated by the media quicker than others though...and that sets the tone for most of the fans unfortunately.

Lets take Rooney and Sterling as typical examples. Rooney is already the scapegoat for yesterday's loss although he can't be blamed for either of the goals conceded, and contributed directly to our goal. Playing out on the left seems to be no excuse for him, yet was the reason Gerrard was absolved of all blame 4 years ago when he played poorly in the same position? Yesterday Sterling's performance was good, it wasn't as barnstorming as the media and pundits are waxing lyrical about, but it showed attacking impetus and unhibited raw talent we haven't seen for a while. That media hype quickly snowballed, helped by a 20 minute deadline for newspapers to get the story out, so they probably all followed the BBC's analysis and built it up to be more than it was. But here's the real irony, 4/5 years from now when Sterling gives the exact same performance for England, the very same media will be slating it (probably saying he didn't contribute enough!) - I guarantee it. There no fecking balance! That's how fickle we all are as England fans at times...most times!

He's a tosser, the reason he posted the thread is because many people had a go at Rooney but he turned it into a Liverpool/Utd thing when the people having a go rightly or wrongly were from all over England.

I remember John Barnes getting dog's abuse by the media and England fans so it's nothing new.The media & fans will always look for a scapegoat and not just in internationals.

No i haven't actually, i wanted to say this all day but waited until tonight you idiot, i'm fed up of the pundits who are having a go at Rooney, like i said in my opening post, you play a striker on the wing, you get a crpa performance, simple as that.

The second goal was a poor one to concede but the main man responsible has not been mentioned. Hart saw the ball out wide on the right, he knew they had been crossing from there all night yet still went to his near post, when the cross came in it went over him making him scramble back along his line and giving him no chance of either intercepting the cross or saving the header. Very poor goal keeping (decision making).

Yep, but it goes to show, now as much as it was then, that it's wrong. Could you imagine how long Pirlo would have lasted if he was English.

We are now a blame culture, if you trip up and hurt yourself these days there will always be somebody who will find someone to blame.

Of course it's wrong but it shows how fickle the media & football fans can be.How many Arsenal fans who were singing Aaron Ramsey's praises last season were giving him abuse previously?

Matth, give up. Rooney has played on the left for us for over two years now, it`s not like he was thrown in at the deep end. He is the biggest name in the team and as such will get the most stick.

Treble mate do you honestly think player bashing only happens in England?

For example the Uruguayan team must have got raped after their opening game, unfortunately it goes with the territory.
