But he was clearly a PL manager stepping down to manage an 'ambitious' club in League One. Irvine hasn't managed above the Championship, and failed there really.
Yes, but he wasn't a failure either. Anyone who brings in Rickie Lambert can hardly be called a failure.
I wouldn't call him a failure, but he failed to get promotion (even with the minus points he was expected to take us up) so I guess he was a failure in Nicola's eyes.
Surely Griezmann is off somewhere? Isn't he? (If not......there's......there's not a chance......is there? I'd take him if Adam buggers off, put it that way).
Didn't realise that Laudrup was their manager either?! Edit: Apparently he isn't just yet, but close to agreeing terms, like Ben Arfa.
He isn't yet. Some Lekhwiya fan has got a little over excited on the Wikipedia page by the look of things.
Ha, yeah I saw that and edited. I too got a little over excited after seeing the Wikipedia entry edited by the over excited Lekhwiya fan! However it does look as if he may become manager. I didn't know that it's where Vladimir Weiss is plying his trade these days either.
Now you see THIS is where football and footballers annoy me, far more than Lallana/Shaw/Lovren supposedly hustling for a move. There is one reason, and one reason only why a player would currently join a team like this, and that's money. Both Ben Arfa and Laudrup have (mildly disputed) quality to burn, but moving here has nothing at ALL to do with furthering careers, or becoming the best at what they do. Purely and simply mercenary. At least Lallana/Shaw/Lovren are potentially moving in order to play CL football (of course, there's a financial element there too). This you can't even dress up.
Doesn't really bother me. If they want to achieve something they would stay in Europe, but if they're happy to trade glory for riches, then who am I to judge? Ben Arfa and Laudrup are probably close to burning all their bridges in Europe as well, so they're probably not blessed with a lot of options to be fair.
Indeed. Especially when Laudrup came out only this month saying the Baggies and ourselves were not big enough clubs for him to manage. That may very well be the case in his eyes (not that I think we are too small a club for him!) but why say he will only consider an offer from a big club? I think what he meant to say was that he will only consider a big offer from any club! http://talksport.com/football/laudrup-out-running-southampton-and-west-brom-jobs-14060394228
