Oooh, the goal line technology comes into play. In the cruellest of fashion.. just show where it crosses the line not the bit where it bounces off the post, no one needs to see that and it causes an unnecessary kerfuffle... not that the Honduran players need any encouragement there.

No place for teams like Honduras in the modern game at the top level

Oh I dunno - QPR have been allowed back in the Premier league. Is there not a world cup thread on the Steptoe board where you can share your wit and wisdom?

For once I got worried for the French as they kept getting hacked.

Pleased Messi got off the mark - few more like that would be nice (unless its against England)

    Big game at 5pm - Germany/Portugal

80 minutes into this apology of a world cup match between Iran and Nigeria.... never mind the lack of entertainment I've refereed matches in the Hayes and District Sunday League with more skill and tactical nous on view than these Herbert's.

Anyone else noticed that all kids led out by the teams are wearing a Watford kit <ok>

I will never support the Argies for several reasons but mainly because of the hand of god goal by a cheating drug addict.

Rio on the bbc is a great find and a breath of fresh air. Speaks his mind eloquently showing great insight.

I had a wonderful time in Argentina. The people were amazingly hospitable (when they realised I wasn't American). I was slightly unnerved, however, by the number of youth wearing Welsh rugby jerseys, and the British Council funded Welsh language teacher called, and I have not made this up, Hamish McDonald.

We must be due another controversial game with Argentina - there seems to be a specific match ingrained in the psyche of every generation of England fans! I must admit i don't see them as the worst in terms of cynicism and cheating though - Uruguay win that award every time.

I have never had a problem individually with any Argentinian I met and consider myself and Mrs L personally responsible for the invasion of the Falklands - but that is another story.

There is a Welsh community in Southern Argentina in a region called Patagonia with a fascinating history

On the flip side, IMO they have the worst kit at the tournament.
