I thought england huffed and puffed around the pitch and basically flattered to deceive. Italy were caught napping briefly just after they scored but otherwise I thought they were pretty much in control throughout. I really cant see where many people - including many of my Scotchlandic friends - get the notion that the nation might have been worth a draw.
Got beers themed to World Cup sides .Becks for Germany, San Miguel for Spain, Stella for Belgium..& Tennents for England. Coz it's ****e.
You're telling someone to leave their country and go back to where you perceive they came from. Most people would call that racism so bugger off with the semantics Not sure what I edited as i'm in full on beel mode and editing a few of my posts here - I may have called you a **** and if i did i apologise as that's not usually my style,.
I did actually. Very entertaining given I had predicted a drab 0-0 draw. I thought Sterling was brilliant (but unsurprisingly faded a bit) and Pirlo was a class act as usual. Gerrard looks done though and I've never seen Rooney have a worse game.
He was not great but they really need to find the best way to play him. Pirlo deserves to be in the same bracket as Ronaldo and Messi. Brilliant player but his consistency in big games is unreal. i do worry he'll fall off a cliff though - some players do that
Problem is if you look in the botom left hand corner you just assume he has one of the biggest drink problems ever. The Italian Gambol in fact....
Anyway, things aren't nearly as bad with the arrogance of the English press and the fans as it used to be. I think it reached its peak back in 1996 when you had the likes of the Sun and the Mirror trying to outdo each other to show who could be the most patriotic in what was in fact utter jingoistic nonsense. The fact that England lost that tournament on their own doorstep tempered much of the expectation in much the same way as the humiliation Scotland suffered in 1978 did to us. I don't see the same "England expects" bullshit that was prevalent 10, 20 years ago. There's a lot more realism around England's chances these days, in the media, with the fans and with the pundits.
