How do we feel about this innovation at the world cup?

Does this mean that it will appear in the PL and the FL next year in the UK?

Personally I like it - I hate cheating teams that creep forward and cut the 10 yards - not that we have any ball artists in the team right now - but I Iike the idea so far in the world cup...

This was discussed on Sooper's Brazil thread and the general consensus was that it's a good idea.

Saves loads of time in retaking free kicks, or constantly forcing players to move backwards...good idea. Wouldn't be surprised to see it in the English league next year...but will it still work on a wet surface?

They use it in MLS and it seems to work fine in Toronto in March.

I see late in the Uruguay v Costa Rica match that it was also used to mark the ball placement location for a free kick, in addition to the 10 yard wall line. Often a fair amount of pinching there too.

I like it ............ maybe they can use it to paint arrows pointing toward the goals. Would certainly benefit players like SWP.

It's been used in South America for years, about time it is introduced in Europe too.

If I was the FK taker, Id be tempted to wipe the ball in it and let the goalie see how slippery it is.

Its one of those no brainer things thats been around for 5+ years but those in charge refused to contemplate it, like goal line technology.

Now hopefully they will get onto video replays and diving. Diving has been the #1 thing wrong in football for 20 plus years.

i thought it was funny seeing someone complain about it, i hope the ref told him it wouldnt have happened if he stood further back.

its 100% a success, players dont cheat, FKs are quicker and theres no yellow cards given out.

They have done for five plus years which makes Fifa look even more useless.
Remember they were the ones who had officials by the goal who literally did bugger all for years. They never made a decision!

Fifa will never make a decision unless there's a dollar in it and even then, they'll want someone to pay overs for it.
