Hart, Johnson, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Rooney, Welbeck and Sturridge is the team. Very close Flappy
Sterling instead of Lallana then... interesting that one. Gone for sheer pace with Sterling/Sturridge/Welbeck it seems.
Anyone reckon he'll stick Rooney on the wing and Sterling in the 10 to do a job on Pirlo? Much more energy to get in and around Pirlo and not give him a moments peace than Rooney would.
Rumours are saying Sterling will play central and Rooney wide. If true it proves Roy's scared to drop Rooney. I dont see Rooney as a wide man.
With that XI, I'd go... Hart Johnson - Jags - Cahill - Baines Gerrard - Hendo Studge - Sterling - Welbeck Rooney
With that 11 it would make sense, but it's still trying to accommodate Rooney into a team that could potentially work better without him. Italy are slow, the Italian league is slow, they struggle with quick play. I know it's hot and humid and going to be tricky, but at the top end we should be hitting them with pace. Sterling, Sturridge, welbeck get them as high as possible and test the defenders legs.
ITV got it wrong with "who should start, Welbeck or Sterling". They've managed to **** it up again tonight.. they've switched to Sterling or Lallana.... really should be asking Welbeck or Lallana
If I was the man in charge I'd go....... ---------Hart Johno-Jags-Cahill-Baines --------Gerrard ---Lallana - Hendo ---Sterling - Barkley --------Studge
True about Rooney but if he has to be in there then put him in his best position and out the way of others. If and when he drops deep it will create space for the three to exploit
Would make sense and I'd have Raheem in the middle to do a job on Pirlo.. but why not just not play Rooney then and play an actual midfielder
