I think 13 league titles and 2 European Cups aswell as many other cups deserves a knighthood. Giggs has achieved something no other British sportsman has ever achieved, or is likely to achieve. Compare that to Chris Hoy who represents us in a sport that 1 man and his dog watch and compete in. He has also been riding a better bike than most of our competitors. It really is a disgrace that he's knighted and Giggs isn't. People make out the Olympics is the sporting holy grail, but it really isn't. It's basically for sports that nobody really cares about to all club together so they can have there day in the sun. The proper established sports like Football, Tennis and Boxing that are at the Olympics see the Olypics as an amateur, or a 2nd rate tournament compared to the real stuff. The big sports don't need to club together in a poxy event like the Olympics, as those sports are popular enough to have big events on there own
Giggs had to break someone else's record to achieve his own, should those who held the record prior to Giggs have all been knighted? Either it should be given in fairness or as Christian says done away with.
Giggs rewards for his playing career are his wealth and the masses of medals he owns. With the damage his personal life has done to his reputation he'll never get more than his OBE. I doubt he lies awake at night thinking about it.
