This is our last chance to find some decent priced winners before Royal Ascot’s combination of short-priced bankers (that should be avoided like the plague) and valuable handicaps where the best form guide is a large pin. In the Sandown 2:20, I am opposing Pricewise’s selection Enobled as (a) I do not think it will win; and (b) it was a market mover on The Morning Line so any ‘value’ has long gone. I am with Tom Dascombe’s Capo Rosso as he chases a hat-trick because he has not been hammered by the handicapper like the hat-trick seeking favourite. Over at York in the 2:40, I will be with the Lady Cecil trained favourite Flow as I do not think that the drop down by a furlong on a flat track is too big an issue and a couple of the fancied opponents hardly have inspiring win-run records. In the big sprint at York (3:50), I would oppose the favourite Danzeno because he has also been hiked by the handicapper and he is carrying 9st 4lb, which would be the most carried to victory by a winner of this race this century. My selection is Betimes although she may be a small stakes interest as a first time handicapper because she is clearly thought of as better than this as she ran in the 1000 Guineas and last time in a Listed race.
On HELLORBOSTON in the first at Hexham, took 9,2 early doors but heading for a Rule 4 I guess That was piss poor! Think it spat the dummy out after being taken on for the lead......hope my day gets better!
2 seconds in a frickin row by the shortest of margins!!! Come on Ollyyyyyy get me some money back me old mate
No sooner than I had put Capo Rosso up on here they had withdrawn it – obviously news had reached them that I fancied it so they decided they had no chance. It looked like the paper favourite St Moritz was going to make all but he just ran out of steam in the last hundred yards up the hill, probably the extra burden the handicapper gave him. I was clearly wrong about the drop down in trip not being a problem for Flow at York as he travelled well enough for most of the race but did not have the turn of foot to catch the front two and lay down a challenge.
Shout on WIND FIRE woolly! Body And Soul has obvious claims but I am on his stablemate CONFESSIONAL.......that's where a few of you need to get along to!
Tanking along when cut off at the knees 1.1/2f out. Looks on a good mark and a must for the notebook!
Emryn Lodge 25/1 e/w in the 5 15 Sandown, over 20lbs lower than last winning mark, 1 out of 2 over c&d, good jockey in Jemma onboard and is now fresh after the last run coming back from a long layoff, should hopefully finally bounce back to form
