This could be a high scoring game as both defences are dodgy and Buffon is a doubt for the game for Italy. Maybe ??

Keep it close by the hour mark and then send on Stirling - Barkley to turn up the heat in more ways than one.

Fingers crossed re our defence mind.

The starting 11 picks itself(by what Woy has been hinting at so far) now that Welbeck looks fit.

I will be cheering for you all. I would be worried though that you all are playing in the most hot and humid stadium in Brazil. Luckily the Italians are also not known for their ability to play in those conditions.

i am praying for an Oxlaide Chamberlain/Barkley in the team from the start tonight, when England have been at their best over the years there has been a flair player involved, Rooney has never delivered in any game I've seen where it matters but Hodgson won't have the balls to drop him. Please we get a point, people thinking we will emulate Holland are living in cloud cuckoo land

I genuinley think some are seriously overestimating the ability of the Liverpool contingent. Gerrard is different class and Sturridge is coming along niceley, but Henderson real isn't International quality at all, and sterling is a complete mystery, the poor kid is being hyped up far too much. When he inevitably falls flat on his arse the whole cycle of barrating him for never performing at international level will start again. See Rooney, Owen, ect. Barkley has far far more raw talent than Sterling. Luckily the expectation levels are being managed differently with him. If people want us to have a real go with the youth, then based on raw talent you have to swap Lallana henderson and sterling for Ox, wilshire and Barkley.

    Hart
    Johnson Cahil Jag Baines
    Gerrard Wilshire
    Ox Barkley Rooney
    Sturridge

I know Ox is injured by the way. In this instance I would play welbeck and Bring sterling on for his pace

What you on? Italy are nothing extravagant, if we dare we can beat them if we attack them.

I think we will do both. We have a better team than them.

Not really comparable. Last night was a rematch of the last final. Spain have been without doubt the best team in the world in the last few years. They looked a formidable team before last night. It was a genuine shock when Holland took them apart. It looks like the end of an era - although time will tell.

Italy v England is no where near the same. We are both middling to good European teams. Neither has a realistic chance of winning the World Cup although for both sides it's not beyond the scope of reason. All 3 results are rightly fairly close together in the betting.

It should be a good game.

I think we'll win by 2 but after a close, tight game.

    0-0 bore draw I reckon.

I'd take a point gladly though.

I think I would start with Welbeck and bring Sterling on with 30 minutes to go when the Italian are knackered, his pace will frighten them to death.
