That sounds more interesting than my course! We weren't taught Political Parties for UK Politics, but would have found that more interesting than bloody pressure groups! My exam board is Edexcel.

Yeah, and all the exams have been pushed back to the summer thanks to Gove!

 

Meant to say my youngest. He enjoyed that part of Politics though - all the ideologies. I can imagine American Politics would be interesting, but UK politics is very open these days. I hope you get your grades to get into University.

 

Ah yes of course. My son was lucky enough to miss out on that change. He just had the January and Summer Exams in modules I think. Tough to be judged in one set of exams in the summer.

 

On June 13th, 2014, I have made the great leap: after many years of people yammering at me to get a cellphone that doesn't flip open and which actually receives calls more than once out of every ten times, I have taken the plunge. I prepare for whatever metamorphosis occurs shortly thereafter that will turn me into a twat who never looks up from the thing.

 

You'll never be the same.

I have hated mobile phones ever since they came onto the market, mainly because I had to have one for work. But I love to be private and non-contactable when I want to be. Which meant I was forever switching the damn things off when I could. Plus, mobile phones are awful things. Tiny screens, awful buttons. Another bloody thing in the pocket for something that for 75% of the time I don't want. Yep, they're great for contacting people, but I'll do that on a landline.

Then there were rumours and predictions about Smartphones. The fact that they would be mini computers, that you carried around with you, was sexy. I waited for those things, but I was also waiting for them to be easily affordable. I wasn't going to be one of the lemmings who part with serious cash so that a couple of years later the price comes tumbling down. I'm forever grateful to those lemmings, for doing what they do, but they really could have some patience and be a lot better off in the process. Mind you, technology would remain expensive if they didn't.

Anyway, these days I am in love with my Smartphone. It really is a computer in my pocket, like they said. One day I will undoubtedly be enticed by a newer sexy model, but until then I'm staying loyal to this one which is as fast as I need it to be 90% of the time. Besides, when I take off its battered protective clothing I am reminded that it is just as shiny, sleek and scratch free as the day I bought it over a year ago. Plenty of time left to love it.

 

On June 14, 2014, I turn 21....yikes....

 

Welcome to an age that is imbued with deep meaning in other parts of the world but I presume is largely meaningless for you save for the bit where it makes you say yikes.

 

On the 17th I turn 44 enjoy being 21 I most certainly did...
